Itinerary

Day 1
Cape Town - Franschhoek
This morning at 09:00 AM you will be collected from the hotel to head out of the city towards Stellenbosch, the heartbeat of the South African Winelands. En route we stop at Kayamandi, classified a non-white township under former apartheid days, where we accompany our guide on a walk highlighting the way of life in this town. He will make various stops along the way, of which the Kindergarten, the library, private homes and “Spaza Shops“ (informal stores) are the most popular. A highlight is the spontaneous and energetic African dancing by the children at the local school!

We reach Stellenbosch in time for lunch and wine tasting at one the premier estates there (own account), before having some time to explore the charming town. The second oldest settlement in South Africa after Cape Town, it houses prime examples of unique Cape Dutch architecture and a short walking tour of the historic town centre will bring it to life for us. We stop at Vergelegen, one of the most beautiful and and historic estates for a further wine tasting, before we return back to your hotel for overnight.

Enjoy lunch at leisure (not included in tour price). The serious business of fine dining at Le Quartier has been set apart and defined by The Tasting Room. Course after course of exquisitely presented culinary delights showcase chef Margot Janse and her team's award-winning talent. *subject to availability. The Franschhoek is a historic residence in the centre of what many regard as the most picturesque village in the Cape Winelands. Cape Town is the second most populous city in South Africa, famous for its harbour as well as its natural setting in the Cape floral kingdom, including such well-known landmarks as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Popular day activites include; Robben Island (Nelson Mandela's prison), Cape Point, Stellenbosh winery tour, diamond buying shops, and great white shark diving.

Day 2
Cape Town - Franschhoek
Today a resident Winelands guide will join you for a tailor made wine experience, exploring the best this area has to offer. Your day can include Paarl with its imposing Afrikaans Language Monument and estates such as Seidelberg and Fairview - and of course the Franschhoek Valley, including exceptional estates such as Haute Cabriere Moreson, La Motte and Grande Provence. You will delight in the cheese tastings in the 200 year old barn at La Grange Fromagerie, chocolate tasting at the Franschhoek Chocolate factory and lunch at one of the top estates (own account but wine tastings included). Return to Franshhoek town with some to relax before heading back to your hotel. Enjoy time at leisure to explore at your own pace, or relax in your hotel. Set on the original site of Franschhoek's first parfumerie, today its the heavenly scent of chef Adrian Buchanans cooking that inspires at the Monneaux Restaurant, a Cape culinary classic. Even by the food & wine capital of the country's high standards, Monneaux is an extra-ordinary success, having been in the country's Top 100 list for six years consecutively, on the Top 10 list for two years and winning the American Express Platinum Award for fine dining.
Overnight at The Franschhoek Country House. Franschhoek or "French corner" is a small town in the Western Cape Province and one of the oldest towns of the Republic of South Africa. Franschhoek is notable for having some of the top restaurants in the country within its quiet borders. This fact, together with the strong wine culture, and pristine natural and architectural beauty has made Franschhoek into what many describe as the "food and wine capital" of South Africa.
