Ulaan Bataar Ulaan Bataar is the capital and largest city of Mongolia. The city is an independent municipality not part of any province, and its population as of 2008 is just over 1 million. Located in the north central part of the country, the city lies at an elevation of about 1,310 metres (4,300 ft) in a valley on the Tuul River. It is the cultural, industrial, and financial heart of the country. It is also the center of Mongolia's road network, and connected by rail to the Trans-Siberian Railway and the Chinese railroad network. The city was founded in 1639 as an initially nomadic Buddhist monastic centre. Since 1778 it has been located in the Tuul river valley. In the 20th century, Ulaanbaatar grew into a major manufacturing centre. Day 2
Ulaan Bataar Depart early morning for Terelj, located about 80 km Northeast of Ulaanbaatar. It is part of Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. Terelj, with its granite rocks, pine trees and river is a picturesque area that is perfect for relaxing. There are good possibilities for hiking, climbing, horseback riding or, for those who are not afraid of the cold, swimming. There are several dinning possibilities in the area. Late afternoon, drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Overnight at Narantuul Hotel . |

Day 3
Ulaan Bataar Take a full day tour with your private vehicle and English speaking guide for the province of Zuunmod, capital city of Tov aimag (province). After one hour drive, arrive in the centre of this small administrative town. Walk around and visit the Central Province Museum. This museum gives a good summary of local geology, flora and fauna. Continue to Manzshir Monastery. The monastery is located 8 km from Zuunmod in Boghdkhan National Park. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful rolling hills covered with pine and cedar trees. The place is dotted with granite formation creating a mystical atmosphere, here monks settled to live their religious life.The monastery was established in 1733 and included more than 20 temples and 350 monks. Tragically, it was destroyed during the Stalinist purges of 1937. Spend the afternoon hiking around the ruins of the Monastery. We will see the two-tonnes bronze cauldron and pay a visit to the small monastery museum. The fit will walk up the hill behind the main monastery and enjoy the great view on the valley.
