Day 1
Pyongyang Pyongyang (literally: "Flat Land") is the capital of North Korea, located on the Taedong River. According to preliminary results from the 2008 population census, it has a population of 3,255,388. The city was split from the South P'yongan province in 1946. It is administered as a directly-governed city. Arrive in Pyongyang in the afternoon from Beijing. After meeting your guide you will begin your first tour in North Korea starting at the Arch of Triumph (larger than the French version) , Fountain Park , Mansudae Grand Monument, the largest Kim Il Sung statue in the country - for whom the entire country celebrates his birthday every April 15th at the Arirang Festival, the largest mass gymnastics and artistic performance festival in the world. The Yanggakdo International Hotel is one of the largest working hotels in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, also known as North Korea. The hotel is located on Yanggakdo (Yanggak Island), two kilometers to the south-east of the center of Pyongyang, the nation's capital. It rises to an overall height of 170 meters and sports a slowly revolving restaurant on the 47th floor. The hotel is said to contain 1,000 rooms and a total floor space of 87,870 square meters. Day 2
Mt. Myohyang Mt. Myohyang ("Mysterious Fragrant Mountain") is a mountain in North Korea, named after the mystic shapes and fragrances found in the area. Myohyang is a North Korean tourist attraction and visited by many tourists. Mt. Myohyang has the International Friendship Exhibition, the grand monumental edifice and the cultural heritages including Pohyon Temple, which was built in 1042, the Sangwon hermitage, the Kumgang hermitage, or the Habiro hermitage. From ancient times, Mt. Myohyang has been known as a sacred and famous mountain, which had an ancestral legend of King Tangun, the progenitor of the Korean nation and one of the eight beauty spots in Korea. Enjoy a full day tour with private vehicle and guide. This morning you will be guided through the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, the Giant Mausoleum where Kim Il Sung lies in state, as well as the Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery- a hillside cemetery dotted with bronze busts of anti-Japanese heroes. Followed by a visit to Kim Il Sung Square- the centre of Pyongyang, where the parades take place, portraits of Kim Il Sung, Marx, & Lenin hang from the surrounding ministries, Pyongyang Metro, Mangyongdae Native House and the Foreign Languages Bookshop. In the afternoon you will with your guide you will explore Moranbong Park- a hilly park in the centre of town where many urbanites spend their day off picnicing, the Youth Funfair, Juche Tower- the tallest stone monument in the world, offers panoramic views of the city as well as representing the national philosophy of the Juche Ide, and the monument to Party Foundation- erected to mark the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the still-ruling party. The Hyangsan Hotel is situated on the banks of the Myohyang River in Hyangsan County in North Pyongan Province. The hotel has a pyramidal shape with a revolving restaurant on the top. Opened in 1986 as a deluxe hotel, this property provide 228 rooms of various categories.The hotel has a dance room, an amusement room, restaurants, a modern swimming pool, a physical exercise room equipped with facilities for curative gymnastics, a billiard room, a tennis court, a rotating restaurant and a theatre. The guests can visit the International Friendship Exhibition House, the Myohyangsan History Museum and famous historical cultural relics and climb Mt. Day 3
Pyongyang Enjoy a full day tour with private vehicle and guide. You will drive to Kaesong (2 hrs) and the infamous Panmunjom/DMZ - the ‘truce village’ where North faces off against South in the longest cold war staring match, described by Bill Clinton as “the scariest place on earth”- not to worry it is very safe though. As well as you will visit Kaesong Koryo Museum- the former Confucian college now offers a glimpse of the dynastic past of this ancient city. In the afternoon, upon your return to Pyongyang visit the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, the War Victory Monuments and take a ride on the Pyongyang Metro- the world’s deepest subway network. In the late afternoon you will drive to Mount Myohyang (2 hrs) for an overnight stay in this peaceful mountain area in a recently renovated pyramidal hotel at the end of a picturesque valley. Day 4
Pyongyang With your guide you will explore the International Friendship Exhibition- a giant subterranean halls of gifts, from the impressive to the wacky, given to Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il by world leaders and notable figures, the Pohyon Buddhist Temple- one of the oldest and most well-preserved temples in the country, followed by an outdoor picnic lunch at a spot favoured by local hikers. In the afternoon return to Pyongyang, and explore the USS Pueblo - an American espionage ship seized in 1968. Overnight at Yanggakdo Hotel Pyongyang. |

Day 5
Pyongyang After breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide to begin your day of North Korean cultural highlights. You will first visit the Mansudae Art Studio, where all the propaganda, statues, and fine arts in the North Korea are produced, tours the facility, meet artists and see the statues made for export too. Afterwards, your guide will take you to the Pyongyang Film Studio, where movies have been made since the 1940s, a place visited multiple times by Kim Jong Il, the author of ‘the Art of the Cinema'. Take a boat trip from centre of Pyongyang to the suburb of Mangyongdae for scenic views and relaxing lunch on the boat. After your lunch visit Mangyongdae Native House, the birthplace of Kim Il Sung, the Pyongyang Military Circus, award-winning acrobats star in this popular show and finally, the City Centre Walk along the Taedong river between some of the remnants of Pyongyang’s time as a walled city. Day 6
Pyongyang Today you will rise early and enjoy a leisurely breakfast before departing in a private transfer to the airport for your departure back the Beijing. - Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $250). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure. We accept payment via credit card, certified check, wire transfer or money order.
- Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
- Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
- Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
- Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of deposit. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to 100% of program price.
