Day 2
Bluefields Bay As part of your all-inclusive booking, a full breakfast will be served daily, prepared by your dedicated cook. Every morning, you will be paid a visit by the Manager of Cottonwood Cottage Villa who will help to plan your meals and excursions for the day.
Lobster can be included in up to 4 meals per week. Complete childcare services are provided for the full duration of your stay as part of this package. Hiking up the Bluefields Mountain behind the villas is a great way to get exercise, learn about the area and meet the welcoming local residents. Philip Gosse wrote his defining treatise, Birds of Jamaica, while living in Bluefields—so there are usually many species of birds and plants to view as you hike. Each morning at 8:30AM, a staff guide will be waiting below the tennis court to meet renters who wish to hike, and the route will be contoured to the persons who come in terms of length and difficulty. One popular route is to go up the lane next to the tennis court and then further up the hill to an overlook with expansive views of Bluefields Bay. Be sure to enjoy the daily complimentary snacks and appetizers which are offered as part of your all-inclusive booking. You may choose to relax and enjoy some spa treatments at your villa. Costs are payable on spot. Overnight at Cottonwood Cottage. |

Day 3
Bluefields Bay The kids can enjoy some fun beach time with the nanny, building sandcastles, swimming, snorkeling or kayaking. While the nanny is watching over the kids at the beach, enjoy some use of the complimentary snorkeling gear or sea kayaks. Head into the sea right below your villa to discover a rich world of tropical fish, coral, rays, and much more with every turn of your head. The villa's leeward South Coast location is teeming with sea life and has the calm sea best for snorkeling. Another great option is to have a local boat take you to nearby Moor Reef where the tropical sea comes alive even more. If desired, you may get a boat charter to head out to the Moor Reef for snorkeling, or to the banks for deep-sea fishing. Experience an authentic Jamaican fishing experience. This is not a “booze cruise” where fishing is almost an afterthought. This is you and the fish—with no fancy gizmos and gadgets such as rod holders. Herman, a local boatman, supplies the rods and reels and the villa staff sends a cooler and snacks for the up to four persons that are taken out 8 miles for deep-sea fishing. Herman caters to persons of all experience levels, and even teaches young visitors how to fish. Tuna, kingfish, mahi-mahi, snapper and even the famed marlin are all examples of what gets pulled from these fertile fishing waters as the South Coast is the finest part of the island for deep-sea fishing. Then enjoy eating your fish for dinner in the traditional Jamaican way as it is prepared by your chef. Costs are payable on the spot. Enjoy complimentary laundry service, and the changing of linens & towels. On Mondays, managers of the Bluefields Villas host a cocktail party at the Treehouse for villa guests and some local residents. Not only is this a chance to meet the people who may become your friends during the holiday, but the lavishly-catered and relaxed function offers tastes of local Jamaican flavors that has caused some past guests to “rethink” their menu selections for the remainder of their stay. Overnight at Cottonwood Cottage. |

Day 4
Bluefields Bay This morning, the kids can enjoy a some of the beautiful nature nearby on a guided nature walk. Also, the kids can be treated to some hair-braiding. You may choose to partake in some nature activities, including a visit to Y.S. Falls, Black River or Orchid Farm. All three destinations can be combined into one excursion if desired. Associated costs are payable on the spot.
YS Falls: Years ago, the Browne family (known for growing delicious fruits, raising top quality beef, and breeding some of Jamaica's best race horses), found a hidden gem tucked away in a corner of their 2000-acre plantation and it was Jamaica's highest waterfalls. Rather than keeping this treasure to themselves, they turned the area into a park to be enjoyed by visitors. Take walks up the many levels of the YS Falls, try an unforgettable rope swing, enjoy a short zip line (canopy tour) over the YS Falls, and also tube down the YS River. The spectacular gardens are a perfect place to enjoy a delicious picnic lunch catered by your cook that will give you the energy needed to try out everything there is to offer.
Black River: Boating up the Black River (the longest river in Jamaica) is an experience that seems to be right out of a movie. The Everglades-style ride offers views of mangrove, birdlife, and even many crocodiles. Watch as the boat captains feed the crocs who they have named—but only if they are good...Be sure to admire the gingerbread Victorian buildings in the city of Black River. You may also wish to add on a visit to the nearby and incredible Orchid Farm owned by Dr. Bennett. You may choose to partake in some nature activities, including a visit to Y.S. Falls, Black River or Orchid Farm. All three destinations can be combined into one excursion if desired. Associated costs are payable on the spot. If desired, you may choose to relax and enjoy some body treatments, such as massages, etc, at your villa. Costs are payable on spot. Overnight at Cottonwood Cottage. |

Day 5
Bluefields Bay This morning, the whole family can enjoy a visit to the Bluefields Basic School, in order to get a glimpse of some of the prospering educational system in Jamaica. A local NGO—the BPCA—was created 17 years ago to provide training in fishing and agricultural techniques, to offer literacy classes, and it also founded a kindergarten (called Basic School) for children below 6 years of age. The Bluefield Villas resort business has assumed sponsorship and operation of the Basic School, and are happy for villa visitors to tour the school and meet the teachers and students. On Wednesdays, villa guests are invited to an excellent feast of chicken grilled over pimento wood and marinated in spices by our Jerk Chicken master, James, and accompanied by other local favorites. Jerk Chicken is probably Jamaica's most famous food item, although it is not actually the national dish. This is an event not to be missed. If you desire, you may go on a tour of local projects constructed by Bluefields Bay Villas community fund to see how the company is able to put back into the community. Associated costs are payable on the spot. Overnight at Cottonwood Cottage. |

Day 6
Bluefields Bay There are several optional activities to choose from today. Associated costs are payable on the spot.
Golf: Negril Hills Golf Course is 18 holes and is reached before entering Negril. It is less challenging than the championship 18-hole course at Tryall Golf & Country Club, but ideal for golfers who just want to hit some balls while in Jamaica. Tryall's par 72 course was designed by Ralph Plummer and hosted the Johnnie Walker Open for many years. Avid golfers report that it is a great pleasure to walk that course with its well-maintained gardens as it winds across the Tryall property with challenging proximity to the sea.
Horseback Riding: take a trail-ride on an enormous 2000-acre seafront property long owned by the Clarke family. Ride across Sweet River, along the shore, and into the sea for breathtaking vistas of the coastline and mountains. There is rich tropical foliage (mangrove, water hyacinth, etc.) and excellent views of a working plantation (cattle, dairy, lumber).
Canopy Tour: take a 2 1/2 hour long breathtaking canopy tour via zip line. The tour mixes amazing views of flora and fauna with the heart pumping adrenaline rush from flying through the air on zip lines over 1000 feet long at speeds exceeding 35 mph. This tour is for the serious adventurer. For those who want a real workout, the Bluefield Villas' night-lit competition-size Laykold tennis court is for the enjoyment of guests to the five Bluefield villas. Bring racquets and tennis balls. If you wish, take a trip out to Negril Beach today. Associated costs are payable on the spot. Negril has a spectacular 7-mile sand beach, snorkeling off its cliffs, bars, restaurants, water sports, shopping. It is a fascinating combination of hustle-and- bustle, combined with the Jamaican “soon come” way of life. There are numerous restaurants/bars, and a current favorite is Idle Awhile with its prime beach location. The Jungle, the island's most popular “nightclub”, gets going very late (11PM), is especially active on Thursdays through Saturdays, and offers a free “ladies night” on Thursdays. Overnight at Cottonwood Cottage. |

Day 7
Bluefields Bay You may choose to go on an excursion out to Appleton Estate or Treasure Beach. Associated costs payable on spot.
Appleton Estate: Appleton Estate offers tours of its rum bottling plant that has been in operation since 1749. They demonstrate how the rum is made from the very beginning to the very end of the process. Samples of the final product, including some new “high end” rums, are provided.
Treasure Beach: This community has a wide dark brown sand beach, huge sand dunes, and water often fine for bodysurfing. You may want to visit Jakes or Jack Sprat (beach bars/restaurants). This community does not have “salesmen” on the beach and lacks Negril’s commercialism. Frequent undertow can make swimming a little tricky. You may choose to relax and enjoy some spa treatments at your villa. Costs are payable on spot. Overnight at Cottonwood Cottage. |
