Day 1
San José San José was founded in 1737 and is a pleasant mixture of traditional and modern Spanish architecture. Places of interest include the Teatro Nacional, the Legislative Assembly building, and the Parque Central, east of which is the Cathedral. The National Museum and the Museum of Gold are also worth a visit. Upon arrival you will be met by our local representative who will help you locate your vehicle. Enjoy a private airport transfer with vehicle, and professional driver. The transfer is approximately 30 mins (22km/14mi). Grano de Oro is the hotel of choice for those who visit San Jose, with a reputation for hospitality and fine quality. The 35 rooms are magical and full of allure, with each possessing a carefully chosen color scheme and theme. Pleasant features such as a fountain or balcony add to the appeal of each room. Day 2
Tortuguero Tortuguero National Park protects the Atlantic green turtle egg-laying grounds; it is in an area of great ecological diversity. Its network of canals and lagoons serves as waterways for transportation and exploration. Start your adventure with an early morning pick up in San Jose. Absorb the natural beauty of Costa Rica as you travel on a guided tour from the city into the Braulio Carrillo National Park and through the agricultural versatility of the Limon lowlands, including pineapples, rice, cattle, a tour of a working banana plantation (closed Sundays and national holidays) and much more. Experience a typical Costa Rican breakfast along the way. Upon Arrival at the port, you will be transferred to the Turtle boat. Enjoy a scenic ride on the Tortuguero River and the Tortuguero National Park canals as you voyage to your lodge. The total transfer time including stps along the way is approximately 7.5 hours (267km/166mi). NOTE: There is a luggage restriction for excursions to Tortuguero. Passengers are limited to 25lbs per person only. The Tortuguero National Park Fee has been pre-paid for your convenience. Explore the most popular sightseeing attractions of the area including the Tortuguero village and a visit the National Park office to purchase entrance tickets. Turtle Beach Lodge is a secluded resort spanning 175 acres. It encompasses miles of jungle trails, a meandering private canal and a half mile of isolated beach on the Caribbean Sea. Day 3
Tortuguero Rise and shine! Enjoy Costa Rican coffee, tea and cookies in the restaurant to start your morning. Join an early morning (5.30am) guided Canal Tour and experience the awakening of the jungle surrounding the canals as the animals start their day. This is one of the most exciting times of the day in the jungle. Replenish with a healthy, typical “Tico” breakfast in the Turtle Restaurant. After breakfast, suit yourself up with a pair of complimentary boots provided by the lodge and explore the mysterious Tortuguero Jungle with your Guide. Learn about the jungle flora and fauna as well as the animals that live in the tropical rain forest. Schedule a canopy, garden, kayak or cerro tour, go fishing or just nap in a hammock on the beach or by the pool! Speak with your Guide for times and other options if you feel like being active. Day 4
Corcovado The virgin rainforest in Corcovado National Park contains many endangered species. It has the largest tree in Costa Rica, a ceibo which is 70m (230ft) high. Additionally there is Cano Island Biological Reserve, a bird sanctuary. Airport transfer with private vehicle, and driver. Enjoy your flight from Tortuguero to San Jose. The flight duration is approximately 30 minutes. Enjoy your flight from San Jose to Palmar Sur. The flight duration is approximately one hour. Upon arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred by van to the boat dock in Sierpe. Travel along the Sierpe River during a 1.5 hour boat-ride to Casa Corcovado. This transfer will be shared with other guests of Casa Corcovado. Included: Tour to Corcovado National Park, Hiking on the Casa Corcovado Trails. Optional: Hiking, Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Mangrove Tour, Horseback Riding, Sportfishing, Birdwathing and more! (Optional tours will be an additional cost) Nestled in a 170 acre private reserve on the edge of Corcovado National Park, the Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge is an isolated escape alongside the Pacific Ocean. Guests are transferred to the lodge by boat. The 14 rooms are built into suites and bungalows, each clean, topped with fresh flowers, and featuring a hammock in the back for leisure time. Note: rooms don't have air conditioning. Freshly grilled vegetables and meats are mouthwatering, with delectable fish and luscious fruits. Day 7
Manuel Antonio Well-kept and well-guarded,ManuelAntonioNational Parkfeatures 5 kinds of forest, some with characteristic rain forest vegetation. Orchids and ferns, jaguars, ocelots and the Baird tapir may be seen here. There are trails through the park and many lookouts. Horseback riding and white-water activities are also available. Depart in the early morning from the lodge. Travel along the Sierpe River during a 1.5 hour boat-ride to arrive in Sierpe. Upon arrival you will disembark the boat and transfer by van to the airport in Palmar Sur for your domestic flight onwards. Enjoy your flight from Palmar Sur to Quepos. The flight duration is approximately one hour. Enjoy a private airport transfer with professional driver. Total transfer time is approximately 30 minutes (30km/19mi). Seated on a magical hilltop in Manuel Antonio is the Hotel Si Como No, where the stunning coastline nudges shoulders with the deep shades of the rainforest. The 58 rooms offer wondrous views of these surroundings, and are complemented by all the amenities and care of home. There is no TV but there is a DVD theatre for all to use. Dining open air, with all sorts of exotic creatures passing by, allows for experiences that are truly down to earth. Others dine outside the resort, to check out the area. Day 8
Manuel Antonio You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the Manuel Antonio National Park for a private, guided tour. This scenic park attracts over 160,000 people each year to its wide beaches with troops of monkeys that frequent the area. The park consists of mangrove swamps, primary rainforests and marshy woodlands and is bordered by the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is a haven for over 100 mammal species including the highly endangered squirrel monkey, or mono titi. Trip Terms & Conditions
- Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $250). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure. We accept payment via credit card, certified check, wire transfer or money order.
- Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
- Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
- Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
- Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of deposit. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to 100% of program price.
