Day 1
San José San José was founded in 1737 and is a pleasant mixture of traditional and modern Spanish architecture. Places of interest include the Teatro Nacional, the Legislative Assembly building, and the Parque Central, east of which is the Cathedral. The National Museum and the Museum of Gold are also worth a visit. Upon arrival you will be met by our local representative who will help you locating your vehicle. Enjoy a private airport transfer with vehicle, and professional driver. The transfer is approximately 30 mins (22km/14mi). Grano de Oro is the hotel of choice for those who visit San Jose, with a reputation for hospitality and fine quality. The 35 rooms are magical and full of allure, with each possessing a carefully chosen color scheme and theme. Pleasant features such as a fountain or balcony add to the appeal of each room. Grano de Oro's restaurant is recognized for its culinary success, surpassing the expectations of even the most critical guest. Day 2
Arenal Arenal contains an active volcano, and also the only dwarf cloudforest inCosta Rica. The crater of the volcano is 1.5km (1mi.) wide and contains a hot-water lake that changes color from turquoise to green to gray. It is also a whitewater rafting center with routes on the Rio Toro and Rio Sarapiqui. Private transfer between San Jose and Arenal. Stop at the La Fortuna Waterfall en-route (entrance included). Head to the entrance of the waterfall, where you will have spectacular views of the Volcano. Near the waterfall there is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the forest and wildlife while you swim in the crystalline waters of the river (not recommended for travellers with sensitive knees). Entrance fee included to the La Fortuna Waterfall as part of your enroute visit to Arenal. You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the rainforest close to the Arenal Volcano. Enjoy a leisurely hike for 1.5 hours through the rainforest while your private guide offers the history of the Arenal Volcano. This park is located at the base of the Arenal Volcano and is filled with wildlife including monkeys, toucans, coati and a large variety of bird species. Conclude the tour at the Springs Resort - soak in the hot mineral baths and enjoy! After a soothing soak in the hot springs, enjoy a lovely dinner at The Springs Resort, prepared in a colonial style rustic kitchen. Enjoy the local cuisine - a true authentic experience. Return to your hotel in the evening after a delicious dinner (included in the tour cost). Los Lagos Hotel Spa and Resort, located a bit of a distance from the center of La Fortuna, is a massive water and land getaway seated near the Arenal Volcano. The 35 rooms are comfortable and clean according to value standards. The restaurants serve enjoyable food, with lovely outdoor seating and close proximity to the birdlife. The swimming pools and water facilities are especially refreshing and attractive, with a hot spring fed Jacuzzi and wet bar. Day 3
Arenal You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the embarkation point of the Peñas Blancas river. Enjoy a private, guided 2 hour safari style float trip down the lower Peñas Blancas river. The leisurely pace allows you to enjoy the tranquility of the rainforest immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of this tropical setting. Be sure to keep an eye out for monkeys, toucans, Jesus Christ Lizards, caimans, iguanas and a wide assortment of bird species (private guide/raft). Day 4
Arenal You will be picked up at your hotel and driven to the Hanging Bridges in Arenal for your private guided tour. You will have plenty of contact with nature during this tour (exotic birds, plants, howler monkeys). The trails have been designed for the transit of all types of people and covers 3100 meters of length located inside the mountainous zone. The trails are constructed with concrete bricks which offer tourists a safe passage. As a plus the security railings are always present on the passages where the floor presents irregularity. Day 5
Manuel Antonio Well-kept and well-guarded,ManuelAntonioNational Parkfeatures 5 kinds of forest, some with characteristic rain forest vegetation. Orchids and ferns, jaguars, ocelots and the Baird tapir may be seen here. There are trails through the park and many lookouts. Horseback riding and white-water activities are also available. Meet your driver a private transfer to Manuel Antonio. Seated on a magical hilltop in Manuel Antonio is the Hotel Si Como No, where the stunning coastline nudges shoulders with the deep shades of the rainforest. The 58 rooms offer wondrous views of these surroundings, and are complemented by all the amenities and care of home. There is no TV but there is a DVD theatre for all to use. Dining open air, with all sorts of exotic creatures passing by, allows for experiences that are truly down to earth. Others dine outside the resort, to check out the area. Day 6
Manuel Antonio You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the Manuel Antonio National Park for a private, guided tour. This scenic park attracts over 160,000 people each year to its wide beaches with troops of monkeys that frequent the area. The park consists of mangrove swamps, primary rainforests and marshy woodlands and is bordered by the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is a haven for over 100 mammal species including the highly endangered squirrel monkey, or mono titi. Morning/Afternoon Departures; Duration 3 Hours (approximately) When the tour is complete you will return to your hotel after the tour. Trip Terms & Conditions
- Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $250). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure. We accept payment via credit card, certified check, wire transfer or money order.
- Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
- Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
- Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
- Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of deposit. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to 100% of program price.
