Your English speaking guide will pick you up at your hotel and take you on a private tour to Panama City and the Miraflores Locks. You will start the tour with a 30 minutes drive to Miraflores to see the huge vessels passing the Panama Canal. The busiest hours are from 9am to 10am and from 2pm to 5pm, so you will be able to see many ships getting lifted or lowered 16 meters in two distinct steps. You will enjoy the view on the Locks from a sheltered terrace and listen to the explanations of your guide. To complete the visit of the Canal you will visit the Museum and Visitor Center at Miraflores which gives you a good idea on the construction of the Canal – a masterpiece of engineering. You will also learn about the history of the canal and its significance for Panama and the entire world trade as well as on the current expansion project. After the visit to the Canal you continue with your guide to the Amador Causeway, a road that connects three Islands in the Pacific Ocean and offers magnificent views on the Canal on one side and on the skyline of Panama City on the other side. The tour continues to the Casco Viejo, Panama City’s colonial quarter. Day 3 Panama City

Undertake a train trip on the historical and original railway course from Panama City to Colón. This 1-hour travel leads you through the jungle and along the Panama Canal. This course was finished in 1855. The French Panama Canal company had acquired the railway line in 1880, as an assistance to build the Canal. In 1904 the Americans bought the Canal and the railway line and were operating it line until 1979. In 1998, Panama privatized the railway line and renewed it completely. Since 2001, the course is again passable and a unique attraction. After the beautiful train trip, you will continue with your guide from Colón to the port of Portobelo. This port was the gathering point of the Peruvian treasures in the 15th century. The gold and silver was shipped from here towards the metropolis of the empire, and in addition, Portobelo was the center of control and inspection of the goods, which arrived from Spain. The ruin complex is built and set up in the middle of the tropical jungle and covers a set of fortresses, castles and military bases. After this historical excursion, you will continue to an Embera Indian Village on Rio Piedra. A fascinating and dense jungle will accompany you on a short boat trip to the village. Upriver, you will step out of the dugout canoes and enter the village of the Embera Indians, one of seven indigenous tribes in Panama. The people of the Embera tribe will welcome you at the pier and gladly give you an idea on how they still live today. The village's chief will give you a brief explication on the history of the tribe, its traditions, cultures, believes and handicrafts. Then, a traditional lunch of fish and plantains prepared by the Embera women will be served to you. In the afternoon you will experience a traditional Embera dance and have the opportunity to shop for handicrafts. The sale of local products directly benefits the village and helps to pay the school fees for the children. You can also get a temporary Embera tattoo painted on your arm or leg. After the tour, transportation back to your Panama City Hotel will be provided.

Choose 2 of the following activities that are included in your stay:

Visit the mangrove: Enjoy a pleasant promenade by the mangroves, on the islands or the coasts, known by the Kunas as home of the sardines. You can distinguish the red, black and white mangrove. The eco-system of the mangroves serves as a spawning area for many aquatic animals, as the larvae and other small species are reproduced here and protected by the roots. These forests are the habitat for a immense variety of fishes of alimentary value, crayfish and "guabinas" (delicious fish from the river), and other wild animals such as the heron and the pelican. It also serves as a resting area for many migratory birds.

Hike in the forest: The major part of the area is covered by primary forests with an immense diversity of flora and fauna. Amongst the species that can be observed in the area are; arborescents ("rosa de monte", alecost, medlar, "espave", mahogany, oak, "maria", lignum vitae) and valuable plants (liane, the "jira" palm, "ca?lanca", annatto tree and many others), medicine plants etcetera. Many of the species mentioned are utilised by the Kunas as forestry products for the construction of houses, boats, tools, artisan's work and medicine. The very few alterations that the forest has faced makes it very attractive to ecologists and scientists, as well as for adventurers. There is also a huge amount of wild mammals, reptiles, insects and birds in the forest.

Bird Watching: The marine birds can be observed from the island of Yandup, but for a greater diversity the visitor can get up in the early morning and observe the birds at daybreak from a boat in the river. "Tangaras", hummingbirds, gull's, woodpeckers, parrots, macaws, toucans, and pelicans are some of the species of birds that you can encounter.

The "kammu burwi" dance: A dancing representation of everyday situations, imitations of certain animals or histories. It stems from the word "kammu" which is a sacred flute that evokes strength when accompanied by the dance. It resembles the movement of the wind. The music is generated with small flutes (kammu burwi) played by men and with maracas (nasis) played by women.

Handicrafts: A sale of handicraft is established in the community for the benefit of the locals. You can acquire such famous handicraft articles as the "molas" and other objects such as wicker baskets and figures made of mahogany, "balso", "espav "amarillo" and other materials. (items are for sale and not included in the tour to this market)

Visit to the cemetery:
The Ukupseni cemetery is situated on a crest near the coast. A visit with explanations about the significance of the death and the rituals surrounding the traditional funeral is complemented with the excellent panoramic view from the cemetery. From here you can see the small archipelago surrounding the community of Ukupseni and Yandup.
Community visit: You can observe the everyday life in the community and the architecture of the houses, constructed with local materials. But you can also go for a walk to see the congress house (Onmaket Nega) where the community members hold their daily meetings and sing traditional and religious songs. And you can see the "Chicha" house (Inna Nega) where the traditional rites are performed to celebrate the "chicha" in honor of the children and the youth.
