Itinerary

Day 1 Venice

In the rich cultures of Europe and celebrated cities of Italy, few places capture the imagination as much as Venice. Its fabled canalled thoroughfares and gilded palaces possess a beguiling beauty unsurpassed by anywhere else on Earth. Everywhere you go you'll find works of art - in the architecture itself or within the walls of the palaces and basilicas that are liberally sprinkled in every area of the city. Venice is an ever-changing, living canvas. No other place has such a mutable geography where you can discover delightfully peaceful piazzas and deserted canals seemingly unmarked on any map. Quite simply, there is nowhere else in the world quite like it.

On arrival in Venice you will be met and transferred by a private motor launch and English speaking assistant to your accommodation on Venice Island. Our local representative will accompany you on the transfer and assist with your hotel check in.

A welcome package with your vouchers, a city map, train tickets (if relevant) and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at the first hotel on your trip.

Enjoy a private and exclusive walking tour of Venice in the company of a professional English speaking Guide before taking a cruise in a motor launch on the Grand Canal.

Hotel Luna Baglioni (5*) is located just few steps from Piazza San Marco in the very heart of Venice, just a short distance from some of the city’s most famous historical attractions, wonderful monuments, interesting Museums and refined boutiques. A private mooring-berth enables gondolas and motorboats to reach the entrance of the Hotel. In a beautiful, aristocratic setting, and thanks to significant restoration, the Luna Hotel Baglioni guarantees guests a magical stay with its magnificent ornamentation and beautiful paintings.

Day 2 Venice

Enjoy the many wonders of Venice; Consider taking a private gondola ride finishing at a beautiful Venetian restaurant with a private boat entrance, wander the streets with a personal guide to show you the sites, take a private boat to see the stunning islands of Murano and Burano or to lesser well known areas in the Venetian lagoon. For those looking at something outside of the city, we suggest a visit to the romantic city of Verona or enjoy a half day shared tour to the outskirts of Venice enjoying some wine tasting among the ancient Venetian vineyards. Please speak to your Sales Advisor if any of these options are of interest.

Enjoy time at leisure to explore at your own pace, or relax at your hotel.

Be met by an English speaking assistant at the Port and take a private motor launch to your hotel where they will aid you with your hotel check in. If your hotel does not have a docking place, your transfer will leave from the closest possible docking place.

Port charges for your multi-day cruise are included.

At nearly three times the size of her sister ships, the Wind Surf carries just 312 pampered guests in 154 total staterooms: 31 ocean-view suites, 2 Bridge Suites and 123 deluxe ocean-view staterooms. What that means in real terms is wide-open deck spaces, new services and lots of little extras that make a Windstar cruise remarkable.

Self-improvement and life enhancement have become the new dogma, and the WindSpa is the destination of choice. With a staff of 10 massage therapists, technicians and instructors, the WindSpa's treatments and therapies range from traditional massage and aromatherapy to comprehensive hydro and synergistic therapy, as well as yoga, fitness and wellness programs.

Day 3 Rovinj

Rovinj is a city in Croatia situated on the north Adriatic Sea with a population of around 14,000.  It is located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula and is a popular tourist resort and an active fishing port. Istriot, a Romance language once widely spoken in this part of Istria, is still spoken by part of the residents (also called Rovignese by those who speak it here). The main thoroughfare is Carrera, located in the centre of downtown. The street is lined with shops, boutiques and bars and has recently been fully pedestrianised. In the old city centre and in the centre of Rovinj around Carrera there are plenty of different shops, boutiques, jeweller’s shops, souvenir shops and art galleries.

Enjoy a guided 4 hour private tour to Murano, Burano and Torcello on your own private boat with an English speaking Guide. After being picked up by your Guide from your ship, take in the sights as you sail past the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, the Public Gardens, the tip of Sant'Elena and the famous Lido beach resort. The first stop on your tour is Murano, known throughout the world for its glass manufacturing industry. Here we stop to visit to one of the factories. The second stop is at the picturesque island of Burano, famous not only for its lace but also for the fishermen's houses painted in bright colours. Then after a short cruise, we reach Torcello, the earliest centre of civilization in the estuary. Only the Cathedral with its magnificent mosaics and the church of Santa Fosca remain as testimony of its former glory. At the end of your tour your Guide will bring you back to your ship.

The Windstar Surf cruise has many public areas allowing lots of space to wander around while on board. Areas include: Wind Surf Lounge, Casino, The Yacht Club, Compass Rose Bar, Pool Bar, Terrace Bar, Water Sports Platform (aft), two Salt-Water Pools, 2 Hot Tubs, WindSpa, Fitness Center, Open Bridge, Nautilus Center Meeting Room, Degrees, The Restaurant, Reception, Signature Shop and Photo Gallery.

After having the day in Venice, the vessel will leave Venice late this afternoon. Enjoy the views as you leave Venice and the lagoon in the distance.

Day 5 Opatija

Opatija is a town in western Croatia, just southwest of Rijeka on the Adriatic coast. The whole sea-coast to the north and south of Opatija is rocky and picturesque, and contains several smaller winter resorts. The old 14th-century Benedictine abbey, Opatija Sv. Jakova ("Abbey of Saint Jacob"), from which the town derives its name (opatija means "abbey" in Croatian) is located in Park Svetog Jakova or Saint Jacobs Park. The Saint Jacob church, built in 1506 and enlarged in 1937, now stands on the same spot. The neo-Romanesque Church of the Annunciation with its pronounced green cupola, was designed in 1906 by architect Karl Seidl. The city's most prestigious sight is the Villa Angiolina, which was built in 1844 by Iginio Scarpa, a rich merchant from Rijeka. This villa, transformed into a hotel, gave a boost to tourism to this town. The town park Angiolina contains many species of plants from all over the world. It has been protected since 1968. Opatija is known for the Maiden with the seagull, a statue by Zvonko Car (1956), which is positioned on a promontory by the Juraj Šporer art pavilion. It has turned into one of symbols of Opatija.

Upon your morning arrival into Opatija, embark on a private half day (3hr) walking tour down Croatia's most beautiful historic lungo mare path by the sea and under the historic hotels built by the Austro-Hungarian elite at the end of the 19th century.
