Sicily, the most southern point of Italy has always represented a strategic stronghold and for this reason has seen various groups pass through over time - Greeks, Romans, Arabs and Normans, all of which left vestiges of their culture behind which are visable today. Spend 3 days in the capital city of Palermo, and after your private airport transfer, meet up with your private Driver and English speaking Guide for a sightseeing tour of the city. Then enjoy a shared full day tour as you head to the golden temples of Agrigento - one of the most impressive classical sites in all of Italy. Palermo is worth exploring at leisure, and for this reason, we have left you a day to relax and explore at your own pace. Then enjoy the 2 hour train ride to Taormina in Premium class with private transfers on either end, as you spend the next 3 days in the eastern side of the island. The medieval mountaintop coastal resort town of Taormina, though arguably overdevelopped in recent years, has natural beauty that will leave you breathless. Enjoy a full day tour taking in the volcanic Mt Etna, a scenic train ride through the gorge of Alcantara, and another full day shared tour to the town of Siracusa, home to some of the most magnificent Baroque art and architecture. Explore the island of Ortigia, and view the remains of the cathedral built over a Greek temple dating back to 480 BC. Both of these full day shared tours are in the company of an English speaking Guide/Escort.
