Day 2 Warsaw

You will be provided with a First Class Polish Rail Pass upon arrival which provides five (5) days unlimited train travel over your entire stay/duration on the national rail networks of Poland used to get from city to stadium for the match commutes and from city to city for accommodation changes, tours, excursions, etc.

Tour Warsaw, Poland’s capital and largest city, seat of the president, government and parliament, the country’s commercial centre. A city with a stormy history, including the march of Napoleon’s army, national uprisings and tsarist repressions, and the Second World War, all had their imprints yet didn't stop its development. Learn about life during the Warsaw Uprising and under communism, about business centres and issues that absorb the attention of Warsaw’s citizens today. Listen to legends from the old times, learn about elections of Polish kings and the secrets of enclosed courtyards of Varsovian houses, uncover the former location of a mausoleum of a Russian tsar, learn what is original housing and what was rebuilt 70 years ago, and find where the Warsaw Pact was signed. The sightseeing route leads through the pictureque Old Town, restored after being completely destroyed during WWII, a UNESCO Heritage sight. Visit the Old Town Market Square, the New Town, the Barbican, St John’s Cathedral and the Royal Castle. Visit the Saxon Gardens with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the imposing Palace of Culture and Science. Observe the Great Theatre with its interesting Apollonian Quadriga and stroll along the Royal Route to the Holy Cross Church.

Day 3 Warsaw

Enjoy a private, half day tour to the Royal castle in the company of local guide with private transportation. The Royal Castle was the seat of the Mazovian Princes, residence of the Polish kings, seat of the Senate, and the place where the Polish Constitution was signed. The site is a symbol of Polish statehood, where many historic events took place, including the passing of the first Polish constitution on 1791. The castle dates back to the 13th century, though it owes its current shape to the early Baroque period. Sigismund Tower, 60m tall and crowned with a high cupola, dominates over the façade. Enjoy a tour of the castle which showcases its magnificant interiors: the Court rooms, the Parliamentary rooms and the Royal appartments. Numerous paintings displayed include portraits of Polish monarchs and the works of Canaletto.

Use your rail pass to get from Warsaw to Poznan and return for the match today. The distance is approx. 320km and there and takes approximately 3 hours by fast speed train and 4 hours by regional trains. There are various departures throughout the day and it is a direct train between the two cities.

Enjoy the game which is part of the 1st round matches today in Poznan. Kick off is at 6pm. Your ticket is in category 2. Cateogy 1 is generally considered the best seating area available - usually in a lower level corner or mid-level sideline seat. Category 2 can be situated as a mid-level corner or 3rd level mid-field and Category 3 is usually on the lower/mid-level location behind the goal, and sometimes on 3rd level corners, but this changes from game to game and is assigned by the organising committee. Actual seats are not determined until approx. 1 week before the matches.

Overnight at 3* Property (Caste Inn, Hotel Ibis or similar) - Standard room.

Day 5 Warsaw

Optional tours in Warsaw are many. Consider a tour following in the footsteps of Chopin which includes a visit to the village of Chopin's birthplace and listen to a concert of the brilliant composer’s music while you visit the Manor House. Another option is a sightseeing tour focusing on the Jewish heritage of the city, or a tour of Royal Lazienki Palace and Park, one of the most beautiful palace and park complexes in Europe. Another popular sight to visit is the The Royal Castle which was the seat of the Mazovian Princes, residence of the Polish kings, seat of the Senate, and the place where the Polish Constitution was signed. Possible tours outside of the city include an excursion to some of the nearby towns and villages with heritage buildings such as renaissance tenement houses gothic churches, and charming narrow medieval streets. A more somber option is to remember those who lost their lives in the Majdanek, the Nazi concentration camp on the outskirts of Lublin. Please speak to your Sales Advisor if you are interested in doing any of these or other private or shared tours during your stay in Warsaw.
