Day 1
Helsinki Helsinki is the capital and largest city of Finland. It is in the southern part of Finland, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, by the Baltic Sea. Helsinki is Finland's capital for business, education, research, culture, and government. It has a compact downtown area with some superb museums and public buildings. Finland's main international airline hub, Helsinki-Vantaa airport is 40 minutes from the city center, with direct flights around the world. The busy Helsinki-Tallinn route takes 1.5 hour by sea and 18 minutes by helicopter. Airport transfer with a private vehicle and driver. A welcome package with your vouchers, a city map, train tickets (if relevant) and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip. The Holiday Inn City Center (4*) is an excellent choice of accommodations for value standard travelers. Each of the 174 rooms promises the amenities of home, with some offering bathrobes, slippers and wireless internet as well as a business corner for the working guest. Rooms take on a Scandinavian decor, with parquet flooring and clean, sleek features. Dine at the main hotel restaurant, and choose from a variety of dishes savored around the world, or venture into Scandinavian cuisine. Otherwise, visit restaurants in the area and get familiar with the many tastes of the region. Later, lounge at the lobby bar and sip on a cocktail. For relaxation, visit the sauna. Day 2
Helsinki Explore Helsinki with English speaking Guide. Discover the historical city center and view Sibelius Monument, the Senate Square, the Olympic Stadium, and the famous Finlandia Hall by Alvar Alto in the diplomatic district, as well as the open air market among other sights. Day 3
Helsinki Enjoy some time to explore on your own and get to know the city's fantastic shops and markets Port transfer with your private vehicle and driver. Spend your overnight on a ferry on Baltic Sea. The ferry offer excellent facilities onboard, including a choice of luxurious cabins to suit every budget, and award-winning restaurants for every taste from gourmet a la carte and grill houses, through buffet, to cafeterias and fast-food options. You'll also find a variety of entertainment including a casino, dance bar, nightclubs with live entertainment shows, spa, bars, kid's entertainment and excellent shopping facilities offering wines, spirits, beers, sweets, leading perfume brands, cosmetics and fashion. Day 4
Stockholm Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. Strikingly pretty, it is arguably one of the most beautiful capital cities in the world. The city is made up of 14 islands connected by some 50 bridges on Lake Malaren, which flows into the Baltic Sea and passes an archipelago with some 24,000 islands and islets). The city is a very lively, cosmopolitan place with both modern Scandinavian architecture including lots of brass and steel, along with fairy tale towers, a captivating Old Town (Gamla Stan) and lots of green space. Over 30% of the city area is made up of waterways and another 30% is made up of parks and green spaces, giving Stockholm perhaps the freshest air and widest lungs of any European capital. Most attractions in Stockholm are found in what Stockholmers call "innerstaden", the inner city - historically the zone within the city tolls. The geography of Stockholm, with its islands and bodies of water, makes for a natural division of the inner city into three major zones. Outside the inner city, the city has a mainly suburban character. You will be picked up from hotel for a 3 hour Grand Tour of Stockholm City in a private vehicle with a English-speaking driver and an English speaking guide. Day 5
Stockholm Meet your English speaking guide for a three hour tour of Drottningholm Castle. The crown jewel among Swedish palaces, beautiful Drottningholm is located 11 kilometres west of Stockholm on Lovö Island in Lake Mälaren. "Versailles in miniature", is an oft-used epithet for this former summer residence - now the permanent home - of the Swedish Royal Family. The palace , which originally was built as a Baroque place and later extended and refurbished in the Rococo style, boasts magnificent suites from the 1600s, 1700s and 1800s, extensive parks, its own theatre and a Chinese pavilion. The Drottningholm Court Theatre is a unique attraction with its original scenery, 200-year old stage machinery and interior decoration virtually untouched by the passage of times. Day 6
Copenhagen Copenhagen is the largest city in Scandinavia and Denmark's capital and displays effortless grace and impeccable Nordic style. A bustling metropolis of 1.1 million, and one of Europe's most enjoyable cities, Copenhagen is situated on the island of Zealand facing the Oresund strait. With Sweden just minutes away by train, it is a link between mainland Europe and Scandinavia, and has a wealth of cultural and entertaining things to see and do. The city has a reputation for tolerance, the fascinating 'free city' of Christiania, a community of people who have tried to create an equal and just consensus-governed democracy for its people. There is more to here than Carlsberg and The Little Mermaid, and a trip to the wonderful Tivoli Gardens will leave the visitor in no doubt that this is a very special city. This is followed by a visit to the Gefion Fountain and the Little Mermaid, inspired by H.C Andersens fairytale. During the tour you will be able to appreciate some magnificent buildings like The New Carlsberg Glyptotek, The City Hall, Frederiks Church, The Tivoli Gardens and the Rosenborg Palace where the Crown Jewels are protected by the Royal Guard. Day 7
Copenhagen Depart from Copenhagen and head north, for almost a whole hour, the coastline of Sweden follows us. We drive through the magnificent Danish countryside and pass the coastline to Elsinore and Kronborg Castle. It is quite easy to understand why William Shakespeare chose Elsinore Castle as the setting for his famous play 'Hamlet.' Enjoy the beautiful surroundings and feel the atmosphere taken through the Chapel and the Knights' Hall (the longest room in Northern Europe) and the dark casemates. Lunch en route (not included in the tour price). After the break, continue to Fredensborg. The Queen's summer residence of Fredensborg Palace is attractively located in the middle of a lovely park, bordering the idyllic Esrom Lake. The next of many highlights is Frederiksborg Castle, built by King Christian IV. This pearl of history, built in magnificent Renaissance style, is now a national historical museum. It contains paintings, tapestries, porcelain, silver and furniture of great historical value. This tour is the classic amongst all the excursions while visiting Denmark. Trip Terms & Conditions
- Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $250). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure. We accept payment via credit card, certified check, wire transfer or money order.
- Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
- Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
- Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
- Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of deposit. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to 100% of program price.
