One of the city's famous landmarks is Chapel Bridge, a wooden bridge first built in the 14th century. Another famous statue would be Bertel Thorvaldsen's Lion Monument of a dying lion which commemorates the hundreds of Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution, when the mob stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris.
