Spend a few days in Winter wonderland exploring the UNESCO city of Quebec, before going to the Ice Hotel - located 30 minutes north of Quebec. Quebec is wonderful at any time of the year, but it is extra special when the cobblestoned streets are covered in snow. Enjoy exploring the historical part of the city, stop in for a well deserved homemade hot chocolate in one of the "chocolatiers" and enjoy the feeling of being in France!

A truly unique experience, the Ice Hotel is rebuilt every year and only opens from January until March. Marvel at the ice sculptures and art work, have fun snow shoeing snow mobiling, icefishing or dog sled riding, or alternatively, relax in the state of the art Scandinavian spa with its indoor and outdoor pools and treatments. Stay an additional night at the winter resort in the comfort of a more "traditional" room at the adjacent Auberge Duchesnay. Sit back and relax as everything is looked after for you, including return airport and mid trip transfers.

Vacation in comfort with the support of our dedicated local staff, providing 24/7 support. Customize or upgrade your tour as you wish by adding additional nights and tours in Quebec city and additional nights at the Winter resort by the Ice Hotel.

Itinerary

Day 1 Quebec City

A private vehicle and driver will meet you for transportation to/from the airport. You will be provided with a pre-departure package which will include all necessary information that you will need for your trip including materials such as vouchers, maps, train tickets (if relevant) etc. Enjoy lunch at leisure (not included in tour price). There are lots of activities to keep you busy while you are in Quebec city. Consider a tour to the nearby Isle d'Orleans and visit an orchard to taste their ciders, duck terrine, confit, marinades. You can also experience an authentic sugar shack on the island and its traditional menu and cultural entertainment. Alternatively, consider a full day of whale watching. For the sports enthusiasts, an adrenaline-filled morning or afternoon para-gliding, downhill mountain biking or canyoning is available. You may like to do a day trip to Ste-Anne waterfalls and Canyon - an amazing attraction with 3 suspension bridges including one of the highest in Quebec, 60 meters above the gorge. There is an easy and accessible path and the tour would include a nature discovery of Mont-Ste-Anne featuring a panoramic ride in the gondola and lunch at the mountain. Whatever your fancy, Quebec City will not disappoint. Enjoy dinner at leisure (not included in tour price).

Since 1870, the Clarendon Hotel (4*) has embodied the prestige of Old Quebec, standing proudly across from the gardens beside City Hall in a neighbourhood featuring cobblestone streets, decorative gardens and a grove of century-old trees. You are sure to appreciate our incomparable hospitality, which has been enjoyed by vacationers and famous artists and musicians for over a hundred years. The hotel is located next to the Price Building, where the Premier of Quebec lives when the National Assembly is in session. Maybe you will meet a Minister of the Provincial Government at the hotel. After all, the Clarendon, a favoured meeting spot for members of the provincial legislature for decades now, can almost be considered a second "Parliament Building".

Quebec City is the capital of the province of Quebec. Founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain, Quebec City is one of the oldest cities in North America. The ramparts surrounding Old Quebec are the only remaining fortified city walls in the Americas north of Mexico, and were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Quebec City is internationally known for its Summer Festival, Winter Carnival, and the Château Frontenac, a hotel which dominates the city skyline. The National Museum of Fine Arts and Museum of Civilization are found near Vieux-Québec. Other attractions near the city are Montmorency Falls and the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré.

Day 2 Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier

Enjoy a private transfer from Quebec city to the Ice Hotel with a private vehicle and driver. Enjoy lunch at leisure (not included in tour price). A majestic icy sheen chandelier dominates the main lobby and has helped make a name for the Hôtel de Glace. Wander through the galleries and exhibitions at the Nordic Arts and Life Festival and gaze upon one-of-a-kind ice paintings. The Domaine Pinnacle Grand slide has a really innovated design, a new addition to the hotel. The Grand Slide starts in the grand hall, crosses through a wall to pass by the Ice Café and finishes its run close to the ice chandelier. This huge slide will make you feel like a child again no matter how old you are! Avail of winter activity equipment rental to try your hand at cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, and tubing. Enjoy a self guided tour of the hotel, or if you would like a guided tour, please speak to your Kensignton Tours sales Advisor and this can be arranged.

Enjoy dinner at leisure (not included in tour price).

A unique, one of kind hotel stay! Spend the night inside a hotel made completely of ice! Every year, the Hôtel de Glace is redesigned and rebuilt in its entirety. The hotel is open from January until March (exact dates are subject to temperature and weather conditions). Spending a night at the Hôtel de Glace gives you a break from the bustle of the outside world; it's a cocoon that cuts you off from the rest of the world and its daily stresses. Enjoy the nordic relaxation area with its outdoor spas and saunas to prolong your getaway. The fairytale surroundings will have you relaxing beneath the snowflakes in no time. Discover how the Hôtel de Glace (Ice hotel) is built in the North Face Exhibition room where you can see photos and a video of the production of the Hôtel de Glace. This year, the Ice Bar decor is inspired with gothic architecture. The medieval ice and snow décor with Gargoyles and snow vault will surely amaze you! The hotel has 36 rooms and suites.
