Itinerary

Day 1 Jackson Hole

Jackson is in Northwest Wyoming, close to the south end of Grand Teton National Park. It is the gateway to two of the United States' best-known national parks, Grand Teton itself and nearby Yellowstone. Many famous people maintain vacation homes in and around this area. The combined elements of beautiful mountain scenery, Old West heritage, tourist traps and celebrity residents give this small town a unique atmosphere both cosmopolitan and frontier. "Jackson" is the name of the town, while "Jackson Hole" refers to either the greater valley area or the Jackson Hole Ski Resort. Salt Lake City, Utah, served by several major airlines, is about a five hour drive from Jackson.

Enjoy a private transfer between your Teton Village area hotel and Jackson Hole airport.

You will be provided with a pre-departure package which will include all necessary information that you will need for your trip including materials such as vouchers, maps, train tickets (if relevant) etc.

Jackson Hole is a veritable paradise for outdoor lovers. Choose between hiking, horseback riding, white water rafting, river raft- floating, fly fishing, a hot springs tour, a biking tour, an excursion focusing on birding or a tour taking in Teton and Yellowstone National Park. Winter activities include snow shoeing, skiing and dog sledding. Please speak to your Kensington Tours Advisor for more details as most tours can be arranged on a private or a shared basis.

At the gateway of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks and slope side at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa takes western hospitality to a new level of luxury. This luxury 4* resort is located slope side at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and easy walking distance to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort ski lifts and aerial tram, hiking, horseback riding, climbing, mountain biking, wildlife watching and many other outdoor activities in Grand Teton National Park. Yellowstone National Park is only 60 miles away.

Day 2 Jackson Hole

Spend the morning hiking some of the most beautiful areas of the Jackson Hole Valley on a shared tour with a naturalist guide who can take you on a scenic trip up the tram at Teton Village to spend the morning alpine hiking with spectacular valley views or into meadows of the valley that offer majestic views of the surrounding mountain ranges. After your naturalist educates you on plants, wildlife and geological history of the area, it is then time to take your newfound knowledge to the Grand Canyon of the Snake River for your white-water rafting adventure. The hike and raft trip includes transportation from meeting spots for both activities. The hike includes bottled water, snacks, and the use of fanny packs, backpacks, binoculars, and rain ponchos. The morning hike leaves at 8am and gets back around 12pm with the white-water rafting trip leaving around 1:30 and getting back to town around 5pm. You can do these activities on two separate days.

Day 3 Jackson Hole

Enjoy a half day, shared excursion to Grand Teton National park during the best wildlife viewing hours of the day. Photograph that moose or the Tetons in superb light during dawn. On this four hour tour, you will get to explore the animal hotspots that your professional guides know so well. The comfortable four wheel drive vehicles will be put to the test looking for wildlife on the un- marked dirt and paved roads through the area. Plan on uninterrupted observation followed by a wealth of information provided by your knowledgeable guides that have a passion for what they do here in Jackson Hole. Non strenuous hikes are included if desired to educate you about the smaller wonders of this special place and to open your senses to this glaciated landscape. Animals that abound here and that are observed during many of our guided eco-tours in Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National park include moose, elk, bison, pronghorn antelope, mule deer, wolves, black bears, grizzly bears, bald eagles, and trumpeter swans just to name a few. Topics of conversation on the eco-tour typically include animal behavior, animal adaptations, geology of the area, and cultural history of this special place to name a few. Your tour includes use of professional quality binoculars and spotting scopes, visual aids and field guides to help with a hands on learning approach, a donation to one of three listed Non-profits, that you choose through our Dollars for Conservation Program (this is at no extra charge to you), pickup in town at your hotel or a convenient meeting place, healthy snacks that will be organic and locally produced when possible. And hot and cold beverages. There is a maximum of 5 people per vehicle, to allow everyone to have a window seat.

Enjoy time at leisure to explore at your own pace, or relax at your hotel.
