Itinerary

Day 1 Sedona

Sedona is a town in Arizona, United States of America, 120 miles north of Phoenix. Known for its beauty and serene setting amidst the beautiful Red Rocks, the town is famous for its vibrant arts community with nearly 100 art galleries and events including the Sedona International Film Festival, Sedona Arts Festival and the Sedona Jazz Festival. It offers excellent outdoor adventures, including mountain biking, hiking and off-roading. Sedona is surprisingly sprawling, with Oak Creek to the south, West Sedona and Uptown Sedona each providing great views, hikes, dining and arts.

You will be provided with a pre-departure package which will include all necessary information that you will need for your trip including materials such as vouchers, maps, train tickets (if relevant) etc.

Your adventure begins upon arrival at their Sonoran desert launch site. You will receive a "pre-flight briefing" where you'll learn more about the hot-air balloon and how it flies, plus other facts you should know to make your flight as enjoyable as possible. Once your balloon is inflated, you will join your pilot in the beautiful hand-created wicker basket. The luxurious, over-sized basket has plenty of room to allow everyone to enjoy the ride to the fullest. As you gently leave the Earth, you'll be amazed at how light the balloon feels. During the flight you have an unobstructed 360-degree view to take excellent photographs. We generally fly close to the ground, usually under 400 feet. At this altitude you are able to see the sights and sounds of desert life. We commonly see jack-rabbit, quail, roadrunner and coyote. From time to time, we encounter deer, javalina and other desert animals. Your pilot will point out exotic desert plant life below and descend to within inches of trees and cacti, much to everyone's delight. The pilots often decide to rise higher in order to give you a marvelous overview of the valley. By changing altitude the pilots may also be able to change direction by finding a shift in wind currents at another level. You will be amazed at the excitement and curiosity generated by the passage of their balloons. Throughout your flight their ground crews follow over desert lanes and roads so that they can be ready and waiting for you upon your landing, always a gala occasion. You are greeted in the traditional manner with flutes of champagne and scrumptiously prepared gourmet food. First-time riders will be treated to the legendary ceremony that balloonists all over the world have been sharing for more than a century. Then, almost magically, carpeting appears on the desert floor beneath your feet along with a lovely table complete with linens and china, a clue to what you are about to enjoy!

And finally, to prove your difference from ordinary mortals, you will be inducted into the ballooning society and awarded the Certificate d'Ascension En Machine Aerostatique.

Amara Hotel, Restaurant & Spa is a creekside sanctuary that offers the best of all worlds. Located in the Uptown area of America's Most Beautiful place – Sedona, Arizona – you are just minutes from Sedona's best shopping, dining and galleries. But within the hotel itself, you are worlds away from the typical Southwest scene thanks to the hotel’s serene location next to Oak Creek and its mesmerizing Red Rock views.

Day 3 Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park is a United States National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is located entirely in northern Arizona and is one of the great tourist attractions in the United States. There are two ways to approach the Canyon: the remote North Rim and the more accessible (and therefore more crowded) South Rim. Both areas have several options for camping, as well as hotels and restaurants. Expect all of these facilities to be overflowing with visitors during the busy summer season. Fall, spring, and winter are all great times to visit the Grand Canyon.

In your private luxury SUV driver/guide, you will travel from Sedona to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. You will tour the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, including a Grand Canyon Rim Walk along the deepest and widest part of the Canyon. Your hikes will be as easy or as challenging as you like. Day 4 Page

Page is a city in northern Arizona. The city is best known for its two main attractions, Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell. Lake Powell is a destination "hot-spot" with its breathtaking scenery and welcoming environment. The lake caters to every traveler with secluded spots for relaxation and camping and deeper waters for boating, tubing, and jet-skiing. Lake Powell is also a gateway to many world-famous attractions such as Rainbow Bridge in Utah. Antelope Canyon is a "slot canyon", a narrow chasm in erosions in sandstone. Years of water and sand has rounded the edges to form curves and flowing shapes in the rock. Photographers love the beauty and unique shapes and lighting conditions of the canyons. Since 1997 the area has been accessible only by permit as it is now a Navajo Tribal Park.

Departing from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in your private luxury SUV with your driver/guide, you will travel to Lake Powell. Lake Powell has nearly 2,000 miles of shoreline, and spectacular rock canyons and towers. You will also visit Lees Ferry, a tiny settlement next to the Colorado River, and see its remarkable scenery. The village is named after John D. Lee, a Mormon settler with 17 wives who established a ferry there in 1871. The ferry provided the only crossing of the river for nearly 60 years until a bridge was built a few miles downstream. The most spectacular and visible natural feature in the Lees Ferry area is the Vermilion Cliffs, an amazingly colorful escarpment stretching over 30 miles southwest towards Jacob Lake. Take an optional tour of the dramatic Navajo Canyon, with its dark desert varnish that appears like a tapestry on towering rock walls, and gaze on the grand views of Tower Butte and Glen Canyon Dam.

This sprawling one-story lodge sits on a promontory above Lake Powell and serves as the center for recreational activities in the area. The brightly colored Southwestern-style suites in the newest building are particularly attractive. The Rainbow Room restaurant offers an extensive Southwestern, American, and Continental menu and breakfast buffet, all with panoramic views of Lake Powell.

Day 5 Monument Valley

Monument Valley is perhaps the most famous example of the classic American West landscape, located within the Navajo Nation on the border of Arizona and Utah. The valley has been the backdrop for numerous western movies, ranging from the films of John Wayne to Back to the Future 3 and Forrest Gump. Visitors can pay an access fee and drive through the park on a 17-mile (27 km) dirt road (a 2-3 hour trip). Monument Valley is part of the Grand Circle, which includes the Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion Canyon National Park, Capitol Reef, Natural Bridges National Monument, Hovenweep, Arches National Park, and many other attractions.

With your private guide, you will tour Lake Powell in the morning. Optional tours include the Antelope Canyon Walking Tour, and Glen Canyon Raft Tour. On the Antelope Canyon Walking tour, you will tour this "slot canyon", a narrow chasm in erosions in sandstone. Years of water and sand has rounded the edges to form curves and flowing shapes in the rock. On the Glen Canyon Raft Tour, you will see this vast canyon, deep in red rock country, where North America’s largest man-made lake, Lake Powell, resides. From there, you will ride in comfort in your Luxury SUV to Monument Valley, home of the Four Corners Monument, where Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah meet. You will tour the area with your private guide, including a stop at the Monument. Make sure to take a picture of yourself in all four states at the same time!

The View Hotel (4*) is designed with respect for the sacred setting in which it is located. “Green” building standards and environmentally friendly operating procedures are a hallmark of the hotel, restaurant and Trading Post. As you look from your View Hotel (4*) guestroom the iconic formations of the world famous Mittens stand before you in timeless beauty. The View Hotel is the only hotel located inside Monument Valley and is adjacent to the Monument Valley Tribal Park Visitors Center. From the privacy of your own room, you will have the most unobstructed, unspoiled view possible. From your private balcony you will be so close, you will feel like you can reach out and touch the massive sandstone monuments that rise majestically from the expansive Navajo landscape. No other hotel can match this experience!
