The most populous city in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, St. John's provides the ideal balance between nature and nightlife, from the East Coast Trail and stunning scenery to the colorful entertainment district along George Street. Whale watching from one of the extensive urban parks is a popular summer activity, and the small fishing villages and islands provide a wonderful backdrop and great places to explore. Itinerary

Day 1 St. John's

St. John's is the provincial capital of Newfoundland and Labrador, located on the eastern tip of the Avalon Peninsula on the island of Newfoundland. The city enjoys a long and vibrant history as the oldest English-founded city in North America. The harbour was a frequent haven for European fisherman throughout the early 1500s, and was officially declared an English colony in 1583. St. John's has over 400 restaurants. Situated in the downtown area on Water St. and Duckworth, there are numerous shops, restaurants and historic buildings. It is a rugged and rocky outcrop overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, with a distinctive accent and fishing culture that makes it completely unique.

You will be provided with a pre-departure package which will include all necessary information that you will need for your trip including materials such as vouchers, maps, train tickets (if relevant) etc.

Enjoy a 2.5 hour guided tour of St John's - the Oldest City in North America, on board hop aboard a double-decker bus with stops at all major historic sites, including: Historic Properties - King's Bridge Road, including Commissariat House, Pleasantville (Fort Pepperrell) - former American military base, Quidi Vidi Lake - site of the annual Regatta, Quidi Vidi Village - historic fishing village, Government House - home of the Lieutenant Governor, Colonial Building - Newfoundland's legislature in 1949, Roman Catholic Basilica of St. John the Baptist, Water Street - The oldest street in North America, Harbour Drive, Duckworth Street and Signal Hill - including Cabot Tower and an introduction to the Titanic Story.

Enjoy a private three hour guided tour taking in sights such as Signal Hill's fortifications dating from the 1600's overlooking St John's harbour, Quidi Vidi- known for once being a historic fishing village, and housing a Battery Provincial Historic Site which had significance as a battery during the War of 1812. Other places of interest on the tour include Cape Spear - the most easternmost point in Canada and indeed in North America and the town of Petty Harbour. Nestled deep in the heart of Motion Bay, just south of St. John's, the town was historically a thriving fishing village on the eastern shore of the Avalon Peninsula. Your Tour Guide will meet you at your hotel and bring you back to your hotel at the end of the tour.

There are many sights and activities to be done in and around St John's. Consider a sailing cruise to see whales and marine life, an afternoon kayaking, or a sightseeing trip to see any of the picturesque fishing villages along the coast such as Logy Bay, Middle Cove, Torbay, Flat Rock and Pouch Covenorth of St. John’s. Alternatively, a scenic ferry ride to Bell Island and tour the island may be of interest or a full day excursion taking in the pretty communities along the Irish loop with a majestic coastline scenery. For bird lovers, you may like to consider a guided visit to see the bird sanctuary at Cape St. Mary’s with over 70,000 birds. Trip Terms & Conditions

  • Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $250). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure. We accept payment via credit card, certified check, wire transfer or money order.
  • Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
  • Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
  • Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
  • Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of deposit. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to 100% of program price.
