Day 1
New Orleans New Orleans is the most celebrated city of the American South, and the largest city in Louisiana. The city has a reputation for historical roots, hot and muggy weather, great food, great music, and great times. Despite being hit hard by Hurricane Katrina in late 2005, New Orleans is still the tourist hot-spot it always has been. Jazz music still rules the city's streets and there's still a bit of Mardi Gras all year round. French Quarter is the oldest, most famous, and most visited section of the city. Many old-line restaurants are in the Quarter, along with music clubs, museums, antiques shops, and drinking establishments. Swamp tours to the bayous are also popular. Imaginative use of Italianate Style Highlights include the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar; the homes of Anne Rice, Trent Reznor, Archie and Peyton Manning; Nicolas Cage and John Goodman; the cornstalk fence; and death site of Jefferson Davis; and film site of Brad Pitt's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." Explore the famed aboveground tombs of Lafayette Cemetery #1, including the Interview with the Vampire film site. (On Sundays the cemetery is viewed and explained only from outside the gate). Jefferson Fire Company No. 22 society tomb, situated across from the fictitious Mayfair family tomb featured in Anne Rice's The Witching Hour. The Garden District/Cemetery tour emphasizes history, architectural style, personal anecdotes, and tropical plant life. Afterwards, you may head back on your own to your hotel or head out for a late lunch and experience the amazing Creole cuisine (lunch is not included in tour)! Day 2
New Orleans Make your way over to C.C.’S Coffee house where you will commence your four hour shared tour. In the company of your expert Guide, you will visit the spectacular Oak Alley Plantation, "Grande Dame of the Great River Road," one of America’s most iconic structures. Explore the Louisiana plantation architecture, culture and history, including the definition of “Creole” and their differences with American plantation life. The subject of plantation slavery is presented with candor and sensitivity. Learn about the movies filmed here and even hear some of Oak Alley’s chilling ghost stories. The French Quarter is an excellent city to walk around in. In this self-guided tour, explore the famous area of New Orleans with map in hand and your most comfortable walking shoes! This tour is easy to follow with specific directions on which direction to turn next at each point. Some of the sites that you will cover during this tour are: New Orleans Court Building, Pirates Alley, The Orleans Ballroom, St. Louis Cathedral (oldest in the United States), and the Jackson Square - these are just a sample of the amazing places you will see! Note that this tour can be done at your own pace, and if you see something along the way that you want to stop and look at- no problem! This tour is extremely flexible! Day 3
New Orleans New Orleans is a great walking city, so why not take advantage with some time at leisure to explore on your own? If keeping busy is better for you, you can choose from a number of optional activities such as: a walking tour of the French Quarter, evening cruise on the Mississippi listening to some wonderful jazz music, come face to face with gators during a swamp tour, a guided visit to Oak Alley Plantation, or a visit to the beautiful Garden District where you will have the opportunity to see some lovely homes. Head down to the dock to and climb aboard a local paddle wheeler vessel for your shared cruise. Enjoy the evening as you cruise the Mighty Mississippi, and listen to the sounds of the New Orleans Spice Jazz Band fill the air as you enjoy a lavish buffet dinner. Enhance the evening by sipping your favorite cocktail on the promenade deck as you cruise past the French Quarter and New Orleans twinkling skyline. Make your way back to your hotel after the cruise.
