Explore Los Angeles with private guide before you discover the beauty of the Panama Canal. Considered by many to be the “eighth wonder of the world,” it’s not surprising that travelers across the globe aspire to one day witness the marvel of engineering that is the Panama Canal up close. The result of several nations’ historic efforts, a Panama Canal cruise is truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, best experienced by sailing through on an unforgettable luxury voyage. The massive locks control the level of water in the Panama Canal, enabling ships to pass through this 51 mile "water bridge". The entire transition takes about 9 hours. Ships are lifted and lowered a total of 170 feet as they pass from the Caribbean to the Pacific (or vise-versa), crossing over the Isthmus of Panama and straight through the continental divide. This epic journey embarks and concludes on the shores of the United States, sailing between Ft. Lauderdale on the east, and Los Angeles on the west, while making calls-to-port in Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia and Aruba. An incredible voyage awaits for you.

Day 1 Los Angeles

The city of Los Angeles, also known as the "City of Angels" or simply L.A., is the largest city in California. Located on a broad basin in Southern California, it's surrounded by vast mountain ranges, deep valleys, forests, desert and miles of coastline on the Pacific Ocean. Los Angeles is an important center of culture, business, media, and international trade, but is most famous for being the center of the world's entertainment industry, which forms the base of its global status. Historically, the downtown fell into disrepair, however, in recent years, the area has seen a booming revival, with trendy hotels, bars, shops and restaurants opening to make it a place to be again. Hollywood is home to the film studios and entertainment theme parks.

Take a private airport transfer in Los Angeles with a private vehicle and driver.

Located on the grounds of Universal Studios Hollywood and 9 miles from downtown Los Angeles, Sheraton Universal a 20-story hotel is 1 block from the Metro stop and 4 miles from Grauman's Chinese Theatre. San Juan del Sur is a coastal city on the Pacific Ocean, in south-west Nicaragua. The town is a popular tourist location because of its many nearby spectacular beaches. San Juan del Sur is popular among surfers and is a vacation spot for many Nicaraguan families and foreign tourists, who consider it an unspoiled alternative to Costa Rica. Its population is approximately 18,500, comprised largely of families engaged in fishing. San Juan del Sur, set aside a crescent-shaped bay, was a popular resting place for gold prospectors headed to California in the 1850s.

Puntarenas is the capital and largest city in the province Puntarenas, Costa Rica, at the Pacific coast. The eponymous and oddly shaped province has its largest section in the South, far from the capital. Some 100,000 live in the city and close towns. With beaches on the Pacific Ocean, it also attracts many tourists, especially surfers. It is also a possible stopover point for the touristy Monteverde, further inland. Its port, Caldera, is one of the main ports in the country. Also, regularly scheduled ferries carry vehicles from Puntarenas to the Nicoya Peninsula

Meet your private driver at the port for transfer to a full day tour to the Manuel Antonio National Park. The park is Costa Rica's smallest national park, just over 683 hectares, but it remains one of the most amazing, and most popular to visit. Among a small forested area and three exceptionally beautiful beaches you will find a truly tropical paradise. Here, the mountains meet the sea, the beaches are covered with coconut palms and the ecosystem is teeming with land, air and sea species. During the 2 hour walk on the park trails, you will have the opportunity to see the endangered squirrel monkey (Manuel Antonio boasts the largest population in the world), various colorful and majestic birds, white faced monkeys, sloth, brilliantly colored land crabs, and colorful butterflies. A beach break will be included for time to enjoy the waves! After the tour, you will be returned back to the port.

Here is the moment you've been waiting for- today you'll transition the Panama Canal. As staggering a concept of digging through the Continental Divide, The Panama Canal also involved constructing the largest earth dam ever built, as well as the most massive canal locks and gates worldwide. This is a true historic engineering feat.

Cartagena de Indias is a port city on the northern coast of Colombia and capital of Bolívar Department. It is the fifth largest urban area in Colombia with a population over 1 million. Founded in 1533 by Spaniard Don Pedro de Heredia, and named after the port of Cartagena in Spain's Murcia region, the city was a major center of early Spanish settlement in the Americas. It experienced rapid development in the eighteenth century as the de facto capital of the Viceroyalty of New Granada and as the main hub of commerce and transportation in the late viceroyalty era. The city is presently a center of economic activity in the Caribbean region and a popular tourist destination. Cartagena's colonial walled city and fortress were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.

Oranjestad is the capital and most important city of Aruba located on the southern coast near the western end of the island. The town was built around Fort Zoutman shortly after it was erected in 1796. The fort is still one of the town's attractions, others being the tax-free harbour and the Willem III Tower, located near the fort. Dutch colonial architecture is less visible than on neighbouring island Curaçao, but several modern recreations have emerged, including the outdoor shopping mall at Royal Plaza, and a few scattered buildings along Main Street and on the Main Square. Oranjestad is served by the Queen Beatrix International Airport, 2.5 kilometers from the city center.
