Itinerary

Day 1 New Orleans

Welcome to New Orleans, Louisiana’s most important port city. People from all over the world have been arriving in New Orleans since the Sieur de Bienville laid out the city’s streets in 1718. The city today is a unique blend of Spanish, French, Caribbean, African and Anglo- Saxon influences. This is obvious in the food, architecture and of course, the music.

Transfer using a local taxi. Please note that this is not included in trip price and is payable locally.

A grand mélange presentation of Cajun and Creole cultures, on this tour you will see two Southern plantations and a Cajun bayou!

The Westbank Plantation Tour where you’ll see both Oak Alley Plantation & Laura Plantation.  You’ll enjoy a delicious lunch (included) at Oak Alley Plantation’s Cajun restaurant.

Choose either the thrilling Airboat tour where you will drive down to a remote swamp in Cajun Country for a high-speed ride onboard a 6 passenger Airboat.  You will glide comfortably over marshes, deep into secluded bayous for approximately 2 hours.  You may even get to hold a baby alligator, feed giant catfish, or meet a nutria face to face.

Or, if you're looking for a more relaxing trip through Cajun Country, you can choose the Cajun Bayou Tour.  You'll drive out to Cajun Country; go through wild cypress swamps, over the Mississippi River on an impressive suspended bridge, and along vast sugarcane fields, as your guide tells a unique story of the odyssey of the Cajun people.

Your Cajun guide, also an alligator hunter and fur trapper, will share his knowledge of the swamp including reptile habits, healing plants and exotic birds.   After this peaceful ride, explore his picturesque swamp zoo on Bayou Boeuf.

New Orleans is known for unforgettable dining, intoxicating live music, Old World charm and good time living. And Sheraton New Orleans Hotel is at the heart of it all. Day 4 Memphis

Leave Natchez and drive on to Memphis. A large river port, it was one of the most important links in the cotton trade before the Civil War. Memphis is also known as the “Home of the Blues.” It was here that W.C. Handy first played his Memphis Blues and many other tunes that earned him the reputation of “Father of the Blues”. A brief city tour will take you to the city’s liveliest street, Beale Street, where the Blues and other types of music are played nightly in almost a dozen clubs. Travel along historic Front Street, once known as Cotton Row, in the days when cotton traders and merchants conducted business here. Look across the Mississippi River to Arkansas as Hernando de Soto did in 1541, as the first European to see the Big River. Of course, no visit to Memphis would be complete without a visit to Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley (optional).

The conveniently located Crowne Plaza is just 15 miles from Memphis International Airport (MEM) and one block from the Memphis Trolley Line. The hotel offers the only Complimentary Downtown Memphis Shuttle Service and just blocks from the world-famous Beale Street Entertainment District in the heart of downtown Memphis. Known as Music City, Nashville is a music-lover's paradise. This is not all the city has to offer. There is also some great history here as well. Popular sites consist of the State Capitol, the Parthenon, Music Row, Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame. The popular Grand Ole Opry is great should you wish to take in a concert or a tour. There are also historic plantation homes such as the Belle Meade Plantation, known as a thoroughbred stud farm and nursery in the 19th century.

Today you will continue on to Nashville, known as the capital of Country and Western music. The city earned its title with the first airing of the WSM Barn Dance radio program, the forerunner of the Grand Ole Opry. The newly renovated Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville, once home of the Grand Ole Opry, the studios near Music Row, and Opryland itself attest to Nashville’s reputation as the most important city in Country and Western music.
