Fly to Mendoza and enjoy and in depth tour of the land of sun and great wine with your own driver, and private guide. Mendoza lies west of Buenos Aires, near the border with Chile. Dominating the landscape are the Andes, climbing steeply into the sky on the western horizon. Snow covered all year, this cordillera reaches more than 6,100 meters (20,000 feet) in elevation and includes Mt. Aconcagua, the tallest peak in the western hemisphere. In addition to providing a spectacular backdrop to the local vineyards, these mountains govern the climate for the valleys below and provide abundant snowmelt water to the vineyards. While Mendoza remains a desert today, parts of the area were turned into an oasis 700 years ago by the ingenious diversion of mountain-fed rivers through irrigation canals. Today, as proof of the old French saying that great wines are grown near great rivers, most vineyards in Mendoza spread across the valleys and rise into the foothills never far from the region’s snowmelt streams. Prominent grape varieties include: malbec, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, syrah, pinot noir, bonarda, tempranillo, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, chenin blanc and torrontés. These wines can be savoured during this in depth private tour of the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo wine region. Mendoza indulges the senses of Smell, Sight & Taste. From the aromas of the vineyards to breathtaking views of the Andes and succulent steak dinners paired with the best wines, this tour is sure to impress!

Day 1 Mendoza

Mendoza is the capital city of Mendoza Province, in Argentina. It is located in the northern-central part of the province, in a region of foothills and high plains, on the eastern side of the Andes, with population of 111,000. A major road between Argentina and Chile runs through Mendoza and the city is a frequent stopover for climbers on their way to climb Aconcagua (the highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere) or for other mountaineering, hiking, horseback riding, rafting, and other sports. In the winter, skiers come to the city for its easy access to the Andes.

Travel through city streets, mixing in the history and culture of the people who transformed this desert into a thriving oasis. Begin the tour at the historical site, where in 1561 Don Pedro del Castillo founded the city; The Plaza and the Museo del Área Fundacional (including the Jesuit ruins). Continue on to the main square, which is surrounded by the Cathedral and the Basilica of St. Francis. Visit both Independencia and Spain Plaza and later journey to the prestigious Emilio Civit street; a residential area that leads to General San Martin Park. This well known park is over 370 hectares in size and is considered the heart of the city. Enter through the famous gates, the horses of Marly, Rosedal and Lake until we reach the Cerro de la Gloria, where the Monument to San Martín and his army is located. Finish up the tour with a visit to Challao. The Virgin of Lourdes alongside spectacular views of the Mendocinian Mountains will leave a lasting impression of this beautiful city.

Placed in one of the most convenient areas of Mendoza, facing the grand main square, the Park Hyatt stands regal and glistening under the golden Argentinean sun. The 186 rooms and suites are prepared for those with the most demanding of tastes, with lush bedding and high quality linen. Dining at the hotel restaurants is enjoyable and creative, with the chef spinning unthinkable fusions out of mouthwatering ingredients. Dine outdoors and sip on fresh air in between bites. There is a park across the street to take a stroll and perhaps get lost in the city. Otherwise, book a massage at the hotel spa or win a bit of spare change at the casino.

Day 2 Mendoza

Approximately 60 minutes south of the city of Mendoza, the Uco Valley encompasses the highest altitude Argentine vineyards (averaging between 900 and 1200 meters above sea level). Known especially for Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Semillon, and Torrontes production. Its striking natural setting - below a stretch of the Andes that includes the 6,800 meter Mount Tupungato. The valley's dry weather and the wide thermal amplitude between day and night have created its distinctive microclimates that result in wines that are rich in color and ideal for aging. Enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the Andes as you are swept up in the tradition of the Old World and the excitement of the New. Discover the unique characteristics of Tupungato's terroir and the secrets of more than 125 years of winemaking tradition. Andeluna Cellars winery and vineyard is located in the Andes Foothills. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the classic architecture of the winery is surrounded by prime vineyards and magnificent views of the Andes Mountains. These beautiful surroundings create the perfect atmosphere to enjoy award winning wines. Continue to Bodega Salentein where grand productions meet high style. Designed for both form and function in the shape of a cross. The Bodega's two levels allow wine to flow from the tanks to the barrels by a traditional gravity transfer system. The four wings converge in a circular central chamber, which resembles an amphitheatre and was inspired by ancient classical temples. Enjoy lunch at either Salentein or Andeluna winery.

Day 3 Mendoza

Enjoy a full day exclusive tour to three of the most important wineries of the region, Bodega Catena Zapata, Ruca Malen Winery and Belasco de Baquedano Winery. Bodega Catena Zapata is widely recognized for its revolutionary owner and wine-maker Nicolás Catena. He is known for introducing to the international wine community the true potential and quality of the Mendoza terrain. Argentina produces world-class wines, thanks to the Malbec grape in general and the wines of Nicolás Catena in particular. Enjoy a private visit to Bodega Ruca Malen, exclusively focused on making wines of excellence, based on their knowledge and above all, their passion for winemaking. The bodega visit will take you from the vineyards and sorting machines to the fermentation and aging rooms, offering an intimate glimpse into the wine making process from grape to bottle. For a broader knowledge of the different aromas found in wine enjoy a tour of Belasco de Baquedano Winery and experience its great “hall of aromas”, which is part of the wine tourism project developed by the winery with explanations of the different types of aromas existing in wine: primary aromas (those that characterize the grape variety), secondary aromas (the ones released during fermentation and its transformation into wine) and tertiary aromas (produced through aging in barrel and/or bottle). Enjoy a delicious lunch at either Ruca Malen or Belasco de Baquedano Winery, the choice is yours.
