An Elegant & Unusual Hotel – A Safari In Itself
The Giraffe Manor
Elegant & intimate, this exclusive boutique hotel will charm any traveler. In truth the manor is spectacular, but it is the resident Rothschild Giraffes that captivate guests. These graceful creatures are extremely welcoming and delight in poking their long necks inside the building’s many open windows! This is the only hotel in the world where Giraffes may join you at the breakfast table and we can promise a plethora of opportunities for feeding and photographing these tall hosts. Built in 1932 by David Duncan of the 'Macintosh Toffee' family, Giraffe Manor is modelled on a Scottish hunting lodge and is nestled between stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Ngong Hills. In 1974, the grandson of a Scots Earl, Jock Leslie Melville and his American wife Betty bought the Manor for their home. In 1984 this magical property opened its doors to guests and its 6 rooms have been in high demand ever since. Giraffe Manor boasts a décor of old world elegance, a superior and gracious staff as well as one of Nairobi’s finest kitchens.

Be Sure To: Prepare for your stay at the manor by reading "Raising Daisy Rothschild" by Jock & Betty Leslie-Melville, or watch the 1979 film “The Last Giraffe” adapted from their book by Sherman Yellin.
