Taj Lake Palace
Travelers will feel as though they’ve been transported into an exotic fairytale as they cruise the green waters of Udaipur’s Lake Pichola, set amongst the majestic backdrop of the Aravalli Mountains, towards a mystical white floating palace. In reality, the Taj Lake Palace resides on a four acre island, the sunlight reflecting off the water just plays surreal tricks with your eyes. This 250-year-old former palace is one of India’s most photographed hotels. It was built of polished white marble in 1746 by Maharana Jagat Singh II, 62nd successor to the royal dynasty of Mewar and descendants of the Sun God – after watching the lake turn to gold at sunset this is a legend any traveler will believe!
