Dürnstein is a small medieval town and port located on the Danube River, in the Austrian state of Lower Austria. It is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Wachau region and also a well-known wine growing area. The town's name is derived from the castle perched on a rocky hill, looking down on the town and the Danube below.
