Go beyond the superficial facade of Venice on an in-depth tour of hidden pedestrian passageways, immersing yourself right into the everyday Venetian life. Departing from the port via taxiboat, you will come to Piazzale Roma, where you will meet up with your private guide for the walking tour. You will pass by the churches of Saint Roch and Franciscan Friars en route to the oldest square in Venice, Campo San Polo. Through narrow streets, you will find yourself in front of the Grand Canal, looking out at the famous Rialto Bridge. Pass by the home of Marco Polo, and visit Campo San Giovanni e Paolo, the largest and most ambitious example of Venetian Gothic architecture. Enjoy a complimentary coffee and sample a local Venetian biscuit before your guide departs, leaving you at this venue. With your escort, you will be lead through winding narrow streets to Antonio Vivaldi’s church, where your tour will come to a close. From here, you will take a return taxiboat transfer to your ship. (When the cruise ship is berthed close to St. Mark's Square, there will be no transfer back to the vessel since it is a short walk.)
