This morning sail out to the south part of the Island of Korcula, to the town of Korcula. Korcula is considered to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, and history and tradition are apparent when you walk along the paved streets and squares of this lovely town. This afternoon is a relaxed one: take a leisurely swim at a local beach or lounge on deck with a book. In the evening when things cool down a little, we suggest you to take a tour with local guide through Korcula’s network of narrow, cobbled streets dating to the 8th century. Not surprisingly, here at the edge of the Mediterranean, Greeks were the island’s earliest settlers. But it was the Venetians who left a lasting stamp in the old town—most prominently with their St. Mark’s Cathedral. As well, there is a small but interesting museum dedicated to Marco Polo.
