Enjoy two African extremes, the wild adventure of game park game viewing and the laid back luxury of Mombasa's legendary white sand beaches. Amboseli National Park, is 260 km (160 mi) south of Nairobi, on the Kenya and Tanzania border. It is most famous for its spectacular views of Kilimanjaro. A system of swamps makes this low-rainfall area one of the best wildlife-viewing experiences in the world. Tsavo East National Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in Kenya at 11,747 square kilometers. The park is divided into east and west sections by the A109 road and a railway. Nestled in the shadow of Kilimanjaro, safaris in Tsavo game park are famous for encounters with great elephant herds and lions, making it an ideal location for an African photo safari. Enjoy morning and evening game drives through this famous park. Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya, lying on the Indian Ocean. Known for spectacular beaches, Mombasa has long been a get-away destination. A terrific value option to relax after a safari. Sign up for optional activities including; deep sea fishing, boat excursions, scuba diving. There are several places to visit in Mombasa, including Fort Jesus, built by the Portuguese, and the Old Town, which has old Islamic architecture.

Kensington Tours has its own offices in Nairobi, Kenya, and Arusha, Tanzania (click on the KT Nairobi video). We also have our own tented camps (www.kensingtoncamps.com). Our prices include the support of our own dedicated team on the ground! Another reason we deliver unbeatable value.

Day 1 Nairobi

In the event of serious illness, Flying Doctors will cover the cost of emergency air evacuation service needed to fly back to Nairobi for treatment. Kensington Tours donates a portion of proceeds to our charitable initiative www.kensingtoncares.com which supports education-based initiatives in disadvantaged communities. You will receive a private airport transfer to/from your hotel.

Owned and operated by Fairview Hotel, Country Lodge offers modern accommodations at reasonable prices. Located in quite Upperhill, relax in the gardens or take advantage of gym facilities and local restaurants. Rest in comfort and security at this lovely location.

Nairobi is the least expensive arrival city for flights with a full range of hotels and local attractions. Dubbed the “Safari Capital of the World” cool, clear and cosmopolitan Nairobi is the natural departure point for most safari itineraries. A city of contrasts, it is simultaneously the largest, the youngest, the most modern, the highest (1700m) and the fastest growing city in East Africa. High-altitude Nairobi enjoys a pleasant tropical climate all year round. There are ATMs and banks to stock up on cash, great restaurants, and malls where you can purchase any forgotten items.

On a clear day, you'll also have spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

In the heart of Amboseli National Park, touching the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Amboseli Serena Lodge lays its home. The 92 rooms are all equipped with en suite bathrooms and stunning views. Dining offers local cuisine and a choice of continental dishes, while specialty meals allow guests to get in touch with the environment. Take advantage of the game drives, where incredible beasts such as lions, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, baboons, gazelle hippos and wildebeest spend their day in front of your eyes.

The park protects two of the five main swamps, and includes a dried-up Pleistocene lake and semi-arid vegetation. Noted in particular for its large elephant herds, Amboseli is the third most visited game area in Kenya after Masai Mara and Nakuru.

Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge is bound by volcanic momentum, with a full a distant view of Kilimanjaro , with a busy water hole at its side acting as a meeting place for throngs of wildlife and plains game. There are 51 standard rooms and 5 suites, each positioned with a glaring view of the world-renowned Kilimanjaro. Even the dining and lounging areas are poised in this direction, with the surrounding grasslands also providing views of roaming species. Here, you may be seated with a number of cocktails or wines while savoring the multiethnic cuisine whipped up daily, when an elephant may pass by in your midst. The lodge helps organize daily activities which put you in touch with these animals, from bush walks to bird watching and night drives. The pool is a welcome relief in this dry savannah.

Tsavo East National Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in Kenya at 11,747 square kilometers. Opened in April of 1948, it is located near the village of Voi in the Taita District of Coast Province. The park is divided into east and west sections by the A109 road and a railway. Named for the Tsavo River, which flows west to east through the national park, it borders the Chyulu Hills National Park, and the Mkomazi Game Reserve in Tanzania. Tsavo is perfectly situated on the way to Mombasa, and is a great complement to Amboseli. However, the sheer size of the park can make game viewing a drawn out affair.
