Selinda Camp was completely rebuilt and re-opened in 2007 to acclaim. It is a small, wonderful, luxury tented safari camp that is situated on the banks of the eastern Selinda Spillway - a waterway that links Botswana's Okavango Delta to the Linyanti and Kwando marshes, rivers and floodplains. The shaded camp is raised a meter or so off the ground and offers extraordinary views over the floodplains, waterways and wide open savannas which are only broken by attractive palm islands. It is these views that are one of Selinda's most compelling features. Sit on your verandas while enjoying meals and gaze pensively over the floodplains of the Selinda, enjoy the passing wildlife as it has done for millennia. There is hardly a moment which goes by without animals in front of camp.
The main living area is under cool thatch and is raised off the ground level for great viewing over the floodplains. There is a spacious lounge and dining area as well as a raised outdoor dining deck for evening meals under the stars! The main lounge has been designed around the four basic elements of nature and art pieces. As you enter the building your journey starts with touches of blue that evoke imagery of WATER, with sculpted and decorated giant mekoros (dugout) canoes, painted by the world renowned artist Keith Joubert as a centerpiece.
Selinda has only nine spacious guest tents under thatch. Each tent has comfortable three-quarter sized beds and fine linen. These beds can be joined seamlessly to create wonderful extra large double beds. Luxurious, flowing mosquito nets add to the romantic atmosphere of our rooms and ceiling "plunka-plunka" fans combined with roof vents cool your living space when needed. The interiors have writing desks and lounge furniture collected from around Africa. There are spacious, en-suite bathrooms, with full sized stone baths and antique showers. Dual vanity basins complement the sense of luxury and sliding doors allow for privacy or create an open-air bathroom feel as well. Hot and cold water is in ample supply.
See Above Description.
The design of the main area is such that there is never a barrier to these breathtaking views of the Selinda Spillway: whether you are relaxing in the lounge, having brunch under the cool shade of the uniquely designed thatched roof, or sampling the fine cuisine of a three-course dinner on the open "star deck". Set apart from the main area is the photo/art gallery built above a temperature-controlled wine cellar and curio shop.
Daily activities at Selinda Camp revolve around morning, afternoon and night game drives with experienced, professional guides in custom-built 4x4 Land Cruisers. Short walks from camp accompanied by a guide are encouraged to get to know some of Selinda Camp's smaller creatures.
