Much of it's coastline is white sandy beaches. Inland is semi-desert and desert and volcanic mountain ranges. This is where eerie lunar landscapes, such as Lac Abbé or the vast salt lake, Lac Assal. Djibouti offers hiking, diving, snorkelling with whale sharks and even windsurfing on wheels, or you can simply laze on a pale-sand beach in the Gulf of Tadjoura.
