Day 1: Nairobi
A privately driven vehicle will provide you with a transfer to & from the airport.
In the unfortunate event of serious illness or injury, all travellers are covered by this “Flying Doctors” Insurance policy. This emergency evacuation insurance policy covers the cost of the evacuation flight back to Nairobi for treatment. This insurance policy however DOES NOT cover the cost of any medical treatment received.
Accommodation: Ngong House Ngong House is a private, serene and luxurious home stay situated in Karen / Langata area of Nairobi. The lodge overlooks the Ngong Hills, only a few minutes away from what used to be Karen Blixen’s coffee farm. Secluded in 10 acres of private land, it is close to Nairobi National Park, 30 to 40 minutes from Nairobi International Airport, 15 minutes from Wilson airport (where all fly safaris depart from) and 20 minutes from the city center.
Lewa Conservancy
Borana Lodge
Day 2: Nairobi - Lewa Conservancy
A privately driven vehicle will provide you with a transfer to & from the airport.
Take your flight from Nairobi to Lewa Downs today. The flight duration is approximately 1 hr.
A representative from your lodge will pick you up and transfer you between the lodge and airstrip.
Borana has a fleet of radio-linked, custom-built, four-wheel drive, open-sided vehicles that are driven by supremely knowledgeable driver/guides. Since Borana is private property, there are no game park rules and no one else will ever obscure your view of the big game that lives here. Enjoy shared game drives in the morning and afternoon when animals are more active.
Night game drives - when most animals are active - are very popular, allowing guests an insight into the nocturnal life of the bush that is denied them in most of the parks. Our hugely experienced guides know the ranch intimately and can usually find the animals that guests most want to see.
Accommodation: Borana Lodge With the snow-tipped peaks and glaciers of Mount Kenya to the south and a panorama of mountains and desert to the north, Borana provides an idyllic setting for any African experience. Borana takes its name from the native Boran cattle farmed on these arid grasslands. Borana Lodge luxury cottages are on their own private ranch in Northern Kenya on the Laikipia plateau. Overlooking a waterhole frequented by elephant, buffalo & other herbivores, this is an excellent place to catch a glimpse of the endangered Hunting Dogs otherwise known as the Painted Wolves.
Horseback Safari
Walking safari in the hills
Day 3: Lewa Conservancy
With the snow-tipped peaks and glaciers of Mount Kenya to the south and a panorama of mountains and desert to the north, Borana provides an idyllic setting for any African experience. Home to the Dyer family for three generations, Borana takes its name from the native Boran cattle farmed on these arid grasslands. The ranch sits within a vast conservation area and the Dyer family is dedicated to working alongside its neighbours to preserve the natural environment and to promote economic and social improvements in the area.
Come to Borana and draw on the Dyer’s knowledge of this magical land to create the ultimate safari experience. Or just relax in the luxury and harmonious comfort. During your stay enjoy day and night time game drives, guided bush walks, mountain biking, horseback riding safaris, visit the lodge's ranch, sign up for cultural tours and more.
If you would like to give something back to the community during your stay, simply speak to the staff. Borana directly contributes to several health, education, and environmental projects such as: Laikipia Wildlife Forum, Seven Elephants Tree Nursery, Borana Mobile Clinic, Education Support Programme, Borana Forestry Project, and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.
One of the most tranquil ways to see wildlife is on a guided bush walk. Your experienced guides lead these hikes and share their extensive knowledge of the land and its wildlife, flora and fauna and birds. Seeing big game on foot is extremely satisfying and allows you to track game in completely safety. The slower pace means that you also have a chance to see smaller animals that they would miss or scare off if traveling at a faster speed.

Day 4: Lewa Conservancy - Masai Mara
A representative from your lodge will pick you up and transfer you between the lodge and airstrip.
Take this scheduled flight from Lewa Conservancy to Masai Mara. This flight takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Includes your transfer from the lodge to the airport.
A representative from your lodge will pick you up and transfer you between the lodge and airstrip.
Your expert guide will meet you, and other guests, at your lodge for an afternoon game viewing drive in and around Masai Mara. See if you can spot lions in the park today. Lions live for 10-14 years in the wild. They typically inhabit savanna and grassland, although they may take to bush and forest. Lions are unusually social compared to other cats. A pride of lions consists of related females and offspring and a small number of adult males. Groups of female lions typically hunt together. Highly distinctive, the male lion is easily recognised by its mane, and its face is one of the most widely recognised animal symbols in human culture.
The lion (Panthera leo) is one of the four big cats, 3 of which are found in Africa - lion, lepard, cheetah. With some males exceeding 250 kg (550 lb) in weight, lions are the second-largest living cat after the tiger. Until about 10,000 years ago, the lion was the most widespread large land mammal after humans. They were found in most of Africa, across Eurasia from western Europe to India, and in the Americas from the Yukon to Peru. However the lion is a vulnerable species, having seen a possibly irreversible population decline of thirty to fifty percent over the past two decades in its African range. Outside of designated reserves and national parks, you will rarely if ever see a lion. Although the cause of the decline is not fully understood, habitat loss and conflicts with humans are currently the greatest causes of concern. Reserves have helped to boost the lion population and help to bring back their numbers.
Accommodation: Cottars 1920s Camp Cottar’s Camp is an intimate family built camp located in a private reserve near the Masai Mara National Park, in Kenya. With eighty years of Safari service the Cottar family leads you by the hand in exploring this diverse landscape. The camp provides tents for up to 12 guests in a relaxing setting built with a 1920's antique charm. Dining consists of local bush cuisine, often taken beside the waterfalls or on game drives. The outdoor veranda offers a stunning view of the surroundings and the opportunity to take a bush bath and perhaps a massage on the doorstep of this backdrop is swoon-worthy.
Leopard
Bateleur or Short Tailed Eagle
Day 5: Masai Mara
Early this morning you will meet up with others at the lodge for your game drive. Drives are typically done in the morning at 6:30am for a few hours. See if you can spot the ellusive leopard.
The smallest of the four "big cats" the leopard was once distributed across eastern and southern Asia and Africa, from Siberia to South Africa, but its range of distribution has decreased radically because of hunting and loss of habitat. It is now chiefly found in sub-Saharan Africa. Because of its declining range and population, it is listed as a "Near Threatened" species. Compared to other members of the Felidae family, the leopard has relatively short legs and a long body with a large skull. It is similar in appearance to the jaguar, but is smaller and more slightly built. The species' success in the wild is in part due to its opportunistic hunting behavior, its adaptability to habitats, its ability to run at speeds approaching 58 kilometres per hour (36 mph), its unequaled ability to climb trees even when carrying a heavy carcass, and its notorious ability for stealth. The leopard consumes virtually any animal that it can hunt down and catch. These stealthy animals are one of the prize sightings you may see in Masai Mara.
As the concession is outside the game parks, guided walks and night drives are allowed and highly recommended. By walking, guests can get that much closer to nature, and if an opportunity to track wild game presents itself, there trained trackers will take guests even closer. On a more self indulgent note, there masseuse will now be based full-time at the camp for complimentary massages, manicures and pedicures. Any other needs that guests may have will be met by butlers who have been trained to provide guests with discreet, yet attentive service. Activities also include game drives in 4-wheel drive vehicles, night game drives, guided bush walks, river swimming, river fishing and swimming pool.
On today’s afternoon game drive the choice is up to you: search for the Big 5 or expand your horizons to discover something different. Masai Mara not only has a rich mix of animals – it also has an incredible array of bird life with almost 450 different species.
Accommodation: Cottars 1920s Camp
Hot Air Balloon
Rhino
Day 6: Masai Mara
Depart early this morning to meet up with others for your sunrise hot air balloon ride. Soar into the skies and watch as the sun dawns across the plains. The balloon will float up for a wide view of the park, then sweep down almost to the treetops so you can see the animals up close, sometimes dropping to just inches above the animals and ground. This ability to quietly ascend and descend allows you to get closer to the animals, affording some of the most incredible views of game and the park. Afterward, enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast right in the middle of the game park complete with champagne. This is one of our most highly rated activities.
Set out this afternoon accompanied by your guide on another exciting game drive through the Masai Mara Game reserve. The Mara area is one of the few places left in Africa where one can still spot Rhinos in the wild. Your guide will take you to locations where Rhinos have been recently reported to see if you can snap some photos of these elusive lumbering giants.

Lions
Day 11: Ngorongoro
Explore one of the most recognized wildlife conservation areas in Tanzania today. Depart your camp or lodge in a privately driven vehicle, along with a local expert guide, towards the Ngorongoro Crater. To explore the extremes of the crater you’ll have to travel along one of three possible routes. The first route travels from the top of the rim to the crater floor, the second route travels from the crater floor to the top of the crater rim, and the third routing travels both ways. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera. This geological masterpiece was formed as a result of an extremely large volcanic explosion which caused the volcano to collapse in on itself, thus creating a crater. The crater is roughly 20 kilometers wide and some 2000 feet deep, making the trip from crater floor to rim around 45 minutes by 4x4. The extremely fertile crater floor is the reason why there is such a highly concentrated amount of wildlife here. Over 20000 mammals call the crater home, including some of the only remaining black rhinos in the world. The crater floor also boasts one of the highest carnivore densities in the world including large prides of lions, packs of hyenas and solitary predators like cheetahs and jackals. A keen eye, and expertly recommended search patterns from your guide may help you spot some of the less common species like leopards, servals, and bat-eared foxes.
