Loisaba Lodge & its celebrated Star beds lie at the border of Laikipia and Kenya’s Northern Frontier District, not far from Mount Kenya. Its 14 rooms, divided by open-air bedrooms that rise high into the sky, a snug cottage and a house, could make one truly believe they’ve been written into a magical novel. Sixty-thousand acres of private, untapped beauty and open land, inhabited by wildlife and all sorts of characters from a jungle book, contribute to the sheer beauty of this private escape. Local warriors guard the Star Beds and cook meals over an open fire, while other times traditional barbeque is prepared for a taste of the earth. Activities are endless, from game treks on foot to rock climbing, mountain biking, and river rafting. This is nature’s hiding place.
Loisaba is the same size as the Ngorongoro Crater and larger than many of Kenya’s principal National Parks. To the north lies the grassy plains off the plateau; to the south, the plateau breaks into valleys, cliffs and escarpments that frame stunning views up to the snows of Mount Kenya. At their base lies a different riverine ecosystem on the banks of two major rivers, the Ewaso N’giro and the Engare Narok. The wilderness is a haven for more than 260 species of birds and 50 species of wildlife. Alongside all the more usual types, elephant, buffalo, Grevy Zebra and greater kudu abound; the area is also rapidly gaining a reputation for exceptional big cat sightings. Even wild dog, thought for many years to be extinct in the region are now appeared to be re-colonising Laikipia and are closely monitored in this area.
A place of deep serenity, Loisaba attracts big game just as it attracts guests; both groups know they will be safe and well looked after, free to roam unconfined and undisturbed. At the star beds, four poster beds on raised platforms with only the boundless equatorial sky for a ceiling. The Loisaba Lodge is constructed from stone, local timber and thatch, the lodge is perched high on the edge of the plateau looking south towards Mount Kenya. Each room has large French windows that open onto a private deck cantilevered off the escarpment. The views are legendary, and a water hole a few hundred feet below draws continuous wildlife. Each lodge room has an en-suite bathroom. The private house includes your own guide, cook, and staff to assist you. This home is large with bedrooms on seperate sides of the house, large spacious main suite, and two storey main area with living room, dining room, loft, outdoor patio and pool.

A truly exclusive, self-contained private house built on the edge of the escarpment entirely from local stone and thatch. The location and architecture of the house are breathtaking, as are the furnishings, most of which have been designed and made at Loisaba.
The house has its own staff, game-drive vehicle and a private, cliff-top swimming pool. The ultimate hideaway, for small groups. The house is a private house on Loisaba. Built entirely from local materials gathered on the ranch and thatched with Mombasa palm, the house commands a spectacular view over the Laikipia plains towards Mount Kenya.
Two large en-suite bedrooms surround a duplex sitting room, bar and dining room. An eye-level swimming pool on the lip of the thousand foot escarpment lies at the foot of the garden.
Guests at the house enjoy the service of its own staff, cars and drivers: it is completely independent of the lodge, allowing guests all the facilities of the ranch with absolute privacy and exclusivity.
2 Bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin (convertible to double) both with en-suite bathrooms with bath and shower.
Hosts and Maasai staff make it a point to preserve the local culture. Bush breakfasts, lunches, dinners and ‘sundowners’ are served often in a pan-African fashion, though changes can be made according to guests needs. When staying in the lodge's star beds, one is privy to campfire cooking in a traditional camp kitchen. This could be the most delicious meal you'll ever eat, as it is cooked my local Maasai warriors over an open fire, as well.
Guests at both exclusive properties have full use of all the lodge facilities and activities, including the beauty spa, lodge shop, tennis courts, bocce courts, croquet lawn, horse riding, camel treks, mountains bikes, river rafting, balloon safaris, and the lodge main pool. The view from Loisaba extends for hundreds of miles - to Mount Kenya, the Lolldaiga Hills and the Mathews Range. A quad biking trip awaits you for an additional 100$ per hour, per quad.
