Ol Pejeta House is a private house within the grounds of the Sweetwater’s Sanctuary, in the Mt Kenya region. It was once owned by the world renowned arms dealer, Adnan Kashoggi. Today, it is a converted dwelling for guests who relish luxury, with 6 immaculate rooms designed to meet the most demanding of tastes. Dining is offered in a range of styles, including the mood-setting bush dinner where one may dine outdoors in the wilderness, with all of nature’s music as the soundtrack. A lot of the activities are shared with the Sweetwater’s Sanctuary, such as a visit to the chimpanzee’s, horses and camel riding.
The Pejeta House comprises 2 superior guest rooms with king size beds, en suite bathroom, dressing room and large balcony with excellent view of game teeming plains .Also there are 2 deluxe guest rooms with double beds, en suite with bathroom and terrace, and one buffalo cottage with 2 deluxe rooms and a fireplace.
The camp prides itself on the quality of its cuisine offering a 5-course "table d’hôte" dining experience every night, and a selection of African, Asian, and international dishes. The "Rhino Restaurant" is accommodated amidst the quaint charm of the main house, which was once the home of the Ranch Manager. Here open windows look out over stunning views and the traditional décor features soft sofas, traditional prints and splendid stone-built fireplaces. The camp also offers a memorable selection of safari luncheons, bush dinners, campfire suppers and "sun downers" safari cocktails. There's also the Khashoggi Bar and Lounge with its blazing log fire, soft lights and enveloping ambiance, this is the ideal venue in which to enjoy a light aperitif or a relaxing nightcap.
The camp enjoys spectacular views over the alternately lush and golden plains towards the snow capped peaks of Mount Kenya. The camp has its own private waterhole and saltlick; guests may enjoy unprecedented close encounters with the wildlife in the sanctuary of their natural habitat. A trip to Ol Pejeta Conservancy would not be complete without a visit to the Sweetwater’s Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya to see these endangered, yet highly intelligent animals. Owing to the ongoing destruction of the west and central African rainforest and continued demand for bush meat, Ol Pejeta Conservancy is compelled to provide a safe, secure and permanent refuge to 42 orphaned and abused chimpanzees from this region. Visitors can “adopt” chimpanzees upon visiting the Sanctuary. This means they can contribute towards the feeding, housing and day to care of the chimpanzees, in order to give them the life they deserve.
