A distinguished camp, Bateleur Camp at Kichwa Tembo is situated in the world famous, game frequented plains of the Masai Mara in South Western Kenya. With its 9 tented suites, each furnished with leather seating, glass-walled showers and shining wooden floors, it is internationally recognized as a romantic plush escape in the heart of the Kenyan wilderness. One can dine outdoors, exclusively in the wild, while a personal butler serves sumptuous elegant cuisine. Sundowners and fine wines are served at dusk. Activities range from a cool dip in the lap pool to simply observing the steady stream of wildlife passing by.
The décor and ambience of Bateleur Camp recreates the adventurous decadence of a bygone era. Includes highly-polished floors, elegant linen, beautiful African artifacts, ceiling fans, old cabin trunks and other original antiques. Bateleur Camp at Kichwa Tembo is situated on the western border of the Masai Mara Game Reserve in South Western Kenya. Set on a private concession leased from Maasai landlords, the camp lies at the base of the Oloololo escarpment just below the spot where, Africa’s most famous scene was shot. The camp overlooks the plains of the Masai Mara and lies directly in the path of what is considered to be the greatest spectacle in the animal kingdom. Two intimate camps each with just nine spacious tents with shingle roof, wooden doors and a private deck. Each tent is luxuriously furnished with gleaming wooden floors, wood framed beds, overhead fans, twin hand basins, showers, cupboards, leather chairs and a writing table. The magnificent appointment of the camp ensures shade from a dense forest canopy and unobstructed views of the game rich plains. The secluded comfortable interiors of the camp are enhanced by fine antiques, leather buttoned Chesterfield sofas and a wide selection of library books. The interiors transport you to the heyday of colonial safaris, to an epoch of romance, canvas and candlelight.

The dining area and verandah have views of endless game filled plains of the Mara. Pan African cuisine is served with flair and after dinner, enjoy a glass of port in front of the fire. International & Pan African cuisine is also served in the bush at both breakfast and dinner. Dinner is often served in a clearing in the bush under a star studded sky. The incredible effort, the surprise, the spectacular settings, visual impact and fairytale-like atmosphere of dining under the stars are an unforgettable African bush experience.
The main guest areas shaded by a dense forest canopy, consist of a sitting area with fireplaces and verandas with views of the endless game filled Mara Plains. A unique feature is the treeshaded rim flow lap pool with a view of the Mara. The tree shaded lap pool, almost 13 metres long is a refreshing feature. The camp has a small curio shop and you are welcome to visit the larger shop at Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp. There is also game drives which are available in the morning, afternoon and the night time. Hot air ballooning is at an additional cost.
