Governors' Private Camp is an exclusive camp with a traditional safari atmosphere, situated on the banks of the Mara River. This is a small camp of just eight tents, set in a semi-circle around a large waterhole with the resident hippo. The camp can be booked by one family or group at a time, so it's yours to enjoy, as the name suggests, in private. The forest around the camp is home to many beautiful birds from rare Trogans and Turacos to nesting Hornbills. Your manager is also your host and is on hand to see to all your desires and answer all your questions.
Governors' Private Camp enhances and completes Governor's Camp. Governors' Private Camp has all the assets of an individually tailored mobile safari, with the added bonus of the highly specialised experience and back up of Governors' Camp. The professional and well-established infrastructure that operates behind the scenes makes it possible to offer the full services and facilities of Governors’ Camp to Governors’ Private Camp throughout the year.
Only eight tents ensure peace and privacy at Governors’ Private Camp. Large comfortable tents are designed to offer guests the traditional safari experience of times gone by. The tents are luxurious with handmade furniture. Private bathrooms have flush-toilets, hot bucket showers, with crystal-clear water whenever you wish. The tents at the Private Camp have just been upgraded and have now been positioned on wooden platforms with extended verandahs. Governors’ Private Camp is booked exclusively by one family or group, the minimum requirements are four pax to book the Private Camp for three nights.
The food is delicious, the desserts have been called "sinful", and the drinks all free, except for champagne. Meals are served on fine china and crystal. You can even tailor your own menus with the Executive Chef.
The following excursions are available from all Governors’ Camp properties in Masai Mara: game viewing in the custom built 4wd vehicles, walking safaris, cultural visits, support of there local schools, Lake Victoria day trips, hot air balloon safaris, great wildebeest migration, spa, specialist guiding: ornithology, photography, meals & sundowners in the bush and relaxation in camp.
