Karen Blixen Camp in the Masai Mara offers an authentic ’yester-year’ experience for visitors wishing to gain that little extra from their safari. Set on the bank of the Mara River the, camp consists of 22 luxurious tents. The location is spectacular, with the great Mara plains behind the camp and the impressive escarpment and Mara River in front. Throughout the day, zebras, elephants and hippos come to drink from the river. Long gone are the days when staying in a tented camp meant roughing it. You will find that the Karen Blixen Camp experience is a step back in time with the luxurious of today.
The camp comprises of 22 spacious tents set on large mahogany platforms, each with a veranda from which one can enjoy an afternoon siesta taking in the wonderful surroundings. The tents are furnished with comfortable furniture for the ultimate camping luxury. The 19 tents are placed along the riverbank, whilst 3 units are situated on raised platforms offering incredible views of the area. Camp facilities also include a restaurant, a bar and a swimming pool, as well as wellness treatments are offered by the resident masseuse.
There are 22 luxurious en-suite tents and each tent is situated on a beautiful mahogany playform with a spacious veranda completed with cushion daybed from which one can enjoy an afternoon tea. Also each tent has a private bathroom with WC, twin, washbasins and an outdoor shower with view to the sky. All tents come with 24 hour electricity, powered by solar panels.

Bush breakfast is the perfect surprise after an exciting morning game drive with astonishing view over the Mara plains. Dining at the camp captures the taste of long gone colonial days with classical cooking from the French, English, Italian and Danish kitchens. Modern day’s love for cosmopolitan food with clear notes from the Far East, India or Kenya’s own traditional cooking is also served alongside the African continent’s finest wines.
Karen Blixen Camp being situated in one of the most densely populated wildlife areas in the world, game viewing is never a disappointment. They suggest that visitors leave the camp early in the morning, return for a hearty breakfast and relaxation before proceeding on an afternoon/evening drive. Picnic lunches can be provided for full day game drives. Animals often seen on game drives in the area include lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and zebra. A must do activity from Karen Blixen Camp is a night drive, where we look for the nocturnally active species. Other activities include game walks, nature walks, birding and eco camp walks. The beautiful laid swimming pool offers relaxation and even a little exercise in-between game drives. The resident masseuse offers a wide range of wellness and beauty treatments.
