The Matthew’s Mountain Range rise up out of the desert; a chain of peaks covered in dense dewy forest. In a remote valley, Kitich Camp overlooks a river glade within the lush indigenous forest. With only six guest tents, one can expect complete privacy. Each en suite tent is traditionally safari-style, with an al-fresco stone bathroom. Kitich Camp’s cosy lounge with open fire and sheepskin-covered safari chairs overlooks the floodlit river glade – from here guests can enjoy watching the wildlife emerge from the forest at dusk. With no roads, no other people, walk along forest paths guided by the Samburu and Ndorobo people, or swim in natural rock pools of the crystal mountain streams, Kitich Camp offers a truly unique and private forest wildlife experience.
The Kitich Camp offer guests a choice of six very roomy and well-appointed tents overlooking the lush gorge of the Ngeng River, with huge comfy beds, en-suite bathrooms, canvas showers and hot water accessible at any time. A genuine ambiance of the early century safaris through the use of hurricane lamps.
See Above Description.
A customary Tuscany cuisine is served both at the camp and picnic spot in the bush. Olive Oil comes from Giulio's farm in Tuscany (house wines are included). A delicious mix of Italian and Middle Eastern, with barbeques too. There is electricity only morning and evening, and rooms are lit with oil lamps. You will take pleasure in the game grazing at the Ngeng River whilst you dine. The dining room has a bar, a sitting room, and a fireplace is built naturally with rocks and local wood.
Owned by professional guides, the camp’s emphasis is on a complete safari experience – fun, intellectually stimulating, oneness with nature: Day & Night Game Drives, Guided Forest Walks, River Swimming, Bird watching, Bush Meals, Cultural visits to local Samburu families. Sleep as long as you like or get up early and enjoy a tailor made itinerary. Game is around all day and activities around the area will allow you to see them a little closer and learn a bit more about them. Because of the pristine and unexplored wilderness, Kitich Camp prefers to avoid the traditional game drives, instead encouraging guests to take walks guided by Samburu warriors. Return and relax by enjoying the natural swimming pool during dry sunny weather.
