Samburu Intrepids is renowned as a pioneer of luxury camping in one of the world’s last truly great wilderness areas. Situated on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River in the arid heart of Samburu National Reserve, Samburu Intrepids looks out over riverbanks where herds of elephant, buffalo and zebra come daily to drink. Samburu Intrepids will show you this dramatic wilderness from a world of fascinating perspectives: through stirring early morning game drives, walking safaris with skilled Samburu guides, sedate camel rides, and raft trips when the river is high. Our acclaimed Adventurers’ Club offers a uniquely educational safari for children of all ages, under the expert guidance of Kenya’s most famous Samburu guide, Sammy Leseita.
This luxurious tented lodge offers 30 modern and newly refurbished tents with a private view over the wildlife-rich riverbanks. The spacious tents boast the very latest in luxury camping, with soft four-poster beds, handsome mahogany closets and writing desks, and ensuite bathrooms with steaming hot showers. The bathrooms also offer twin washbasins, flush toilets, and sockets for shavers and battery charging. All the tents are large and spacious under palm-thatched roofs with netted screens to allow for the river breeze to keep them cool and give you stunning views of the land that is Samburu. Each tent sits on a raised deck overlooking the brown river where the elephants sometimes make an appearance or the crocodiles come out to lounge by the river’s banks. You can also choose to have private candlelit dinners on the deck of your canvas villa and should it get a trifle too hot, all tents are fitted with fans.
