Sasaab is a sensational and stylish lodge set in a wild landscape, amongst the culturally proud and fascinating Samburu tribe. It offers an experience of rare and endangered wildlife enhanced by scenic views of the EwasoNyiro river- Kenya’s third largest water course. Set on half a mile of hillside, the lodge provides privacy and harmony with the environment and a taste of true African safari. With a fusion of Moroccan and Swahili grandeur, its spacious rooms offer guests the chance to relax in an atmosphere of serenity.
Situated above the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, in the arid heart of Samburu land, Sasaab's tranquil setting offers views towards the Laikipia plateau and of Mount Kenya. The main area sits on a high rocky ridge allowing one to enjoy the spectacular views through the Moroccan interior and courtyard. The swimming pool is perched on the hill side overlooking the river. Massage & beauty treatments are offered from the privacy of your tent. Sasaab offers a true wilderness experience with excursions into the famous Samburu Reserve known for its large herds of Elephant and the endangered Grevy Zebra.
Each of the nine distinctive rooms boasts Egyptian cotton sheets on the elegant four poster beds and invigorating showers in the spacious bathrooms. Each room is over one hundred square meters in size and extends out to the verandah and private plunge pool with views overlooking the river and wildlife below.
With meals made from the freshest ingredients from the camps own vegetable garden, the highly trained culinary staff are able to arrange a wide variety of meals and special diets. The chefs prepares delicious breakfast's and lunches on the deck. Nothing can compare to the simple comfort of sitting out under the stars as you enjoy your evening meal while you take in the sounds and scent of the wild.
Pass the time lazing on the cushions in ‘souk’ style mess area whilst looking out over the rugged Northern Frontier district, or simply relax with a good book by the main pool and watch the elephants amble in the river below.
