Set around an oasis of natural spring pools and surrounded by views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Chyulu Hills, the camp’s location showcases some of Kenya’s most striking vistas. Finch Hattons has a rich history, having set the standards in luxury safaris over two decades ago with its multi-course gourmet meals and crystal glassware- a first in the world of eco-tented camps. Finch Hattons is a multi-award winning camp, the camp was selected as “Africa’s Leading Safari Lodge 2014” by the world Travel Awards for its high service, standard and quality.
The camp accommodates up to 50 people in spacious safari “tents” attractively constructed in light beige canvas with large “windows”, wooden flooring and a permanent thatched roof. All have en-suite bathrooms, large mirrors, WC, hot and cold running water and showers and are equipped with a fully stocked mini bar, shaver outlets for 110v and 200v and hairdryers. The emphasis is on tasteful comfort with either double or twin beds, period brass lamps, writing desks and Afghan ‘Kilims’. All tents are built on elevated platforms with spectacular views of the surrounding springs and forest. Large wooden decks with a comfortable day bed, chairs and table offer a tranquil and relaxing retreat.

Finch Hattons has built a solid reputation for producing inspiring gourmet meals in a remote and wild setting. Standards of food preparation and culinary protocol are unmatched elsewhere in the bush. Cuisine on the menu is both imaginative and tasteful. Only fresh Kenyan produce of international export quality is used for all meals. Breakfast and lunch are served “al fresco” on the large terrace overlooking the main hippo pool with a backdrop of Mt Kilimanjaro in the distance. Dinner consists of a six course meal served in the elegantly beautiful dining room. Finch Hattons pride themselves on an extensive cellar of imported wines, a wide range of premium spirits and other preferred beverages from a well-stocked bar. Breakfast is served from 07.00 – 10.00, Lunch is served from 12.30 – 14.30, and Dinner commences at 19.30.
Activities in and around the camp include early morning, mid-morning and afternoon game drives in the park which are in customized, open sided 4x4 safari vehicles with professional driver guides. Exclusive use of a safari vehicle can be organized by prior arrangement. Escorted Nature Walks are available. Optional Sundowners and/or Bush Breakfasts can also be arranged. Day Excursions to nearby Amboseli National Park (2.5 hours’ drive) can be arranged with prior notice. This relatively small park is famous for its massive herds of elephants and proximity to Mt Kilimanjaro.
Finch Hattons features a fully functional Spa, a gorgeous star gazing terrace, a yoga deck with views of the Chyulu Hills and a swimming pool.
