Day 2: Northern Mauritius
Begin this tour by taking the road through the green Bois Chéri tea plantation to the factory that produces this drink inherited from the nation's British colonial past. In the chalet choose from a variety of different teas; taste them while gazing out onto the spectacular panoramas directly in front of you. Next experience the peace of life long ago at St Aubin where there is an original plantation estate – an unforgettable visit imbued with the scent of anthurium flowers, vanilla and rum. Work up an appetite with the invigorating sea air which blows across the Andrea Lodges. After lunch, take the road to La Vanille Réserve des Mascareignes – a wonderful place for those who love animals, birds and nature. The climax of this excursion is a walk along the marvellous Gris-Gris cliffs fashioned by the pounding of the wind and the ocean waves.

Day 3: Northern Mauritius
Prepare for an outing where spectacular changes of scenery are guaranteed: contrast the views looking down onto the high plateaus on the edges of the extinct volcano of Trou-aux-Cerfs with the mysticism of the sacred Hindu lake of Grand-Bassin. Your adventure into nature continues in the Black River Gorges National Park, a marvellous reserve full of wildlife and native flora. At La Rhumerie de Chamarel be initiated into the secrets of the manufacture of agricultural rum, with a chance to taste it at the end of the guided tour. Following which enjoy a delicious lunch at L’Alchimiste restaurant. With its earths of the seven colours – a spectacular geological phenomenon – and a waterfall more than 100m high Chamarel is a must-see location!

VISA/PASSPORT
A valid passport, onward/return ticket, and proof of sufficient funds are required for both US and Canadian citizens. Immigration authorities require the validity of the entrant’s passport to be greater than six months upon both arrival and departure. Travelers must also provide a local address where they will be staying in Mauritius. Visas are issued at the point of entry. Visas are not required for stays upto 90 days. A tourist entry fee and the airport departure tax are included in the price of a plane ticket. Travelers coming from yellow fever-infected areas may be asked to present a yellow fever vaccination certificate.
Please note obtaining a visa is your responsibility. These requirements change often and therefore it is best that you check with the embassy of Mauritius for the most up to date visa information.

Health insurance is essential. Medical facilities are poor quality. We recommend that you see a health-care provider who specializes in Travel Medicine. The doctor or health-care provider will determine what vaccinations and medication you will need, depending on factors such as your health and immunization history, areas of the country you will be visiting, and planned activities. Language: The official languages are English and French (with French being the most dominant), the most commonly used are Creole (pidgin French with other languages added to the mix), Hindi and Bhojpuri. Urdu and Chinese are also spoken.

- Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $350). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure.
- Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.
- Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
- Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
- Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
