Renovated from ruins, Riad Maison Bleue, the sister property to La Maison Bleue, is an elegant hotel that successfully combines traditional Moroccan influences with modern sensibilities. The 18 suites, comfortable restaurant, private spa and hammam, well-equipped gym and intimate bar exude an air of discreet luxury. The main courtyard, with its swimming pool and lush garden is surrounded by three guest rooms and a Moorish salon. Here you will be welcomed upon arrival with a bowl of orange-blossom scented milk and almond-stuffed dates. Six of the suites overlook this courtyard, where the palm trees, mandarin trees and pool combine to create an oasis of calm. The hotel offers a choice of two ‘a la carte’ menus comprising traditional Moroccan cuisine or international dishes. There is also a room service menu available.
Riad Maison Bleue occupies a 19th Century house that once belonged to Moulay Bel Arbi El Alaoui, an eminent judge and professor of theology. A famous Moroccan philosopher, Aziz Lahbabi, was also born and raised in this house. Today this property serves as the second guesthouse restored and run by the El Abbadi family, and consists of three interconnecting houses, which creates an intimate and romantic atmosphere. When exploring the routes connecting the houses guests can feel as though they are negotiating the laneways of the ancient Medina of Fez. Riad Maison Bleue has also achieved ‘Green Key’ status as a hotel, through its efforts to aid sustainability.
Located in the "Mesria" wing are four elegantly decorated suites that combine the best of Arabic and Oriental designs and styling. Timeless Moroccan style has been merged with more modern minimalism, resulting in elegant interiors and luxurious comfort. All 18 suites in the hotel are equipped with an en suite bathroom, reverse-cycle air conditioning and heating, telephone, television, Internet access, mini bar, iPod dock and safe.
Each Standard room at the Riad Maison Bleue is well-equipped and comfortable. Guests are assured a good night's sleep as they casually slip into their cozy bed lined with Egyptian cotton linens. These rooms boast a plethora of amenities including bathrobes, slippers, a hair dryer, a minibar, complimentary wireless Internet access, and a TV and DVD player.
Dining at the Riad Maison Bleue is a sure treat. Three terraces offer breathtaking views of different aspects of the Medina and provide a wide choice of areas to relax with a book or enjoy the sunshine. During the warmer months meals are served on the terraces, or snacks and drinks are available by the swimming pool. In the winter the covered courtyard restaurant provides a cosier alternative for dining. The hotel offers a choice of two ‘a la carte’ menus comprising traditional Moroccan cuisine or international dishes. There is also a room service menu available.
The newly renovated "Blue Lounge" offers a contemporary space in which to enjoy pre-dinner drinks, tasting plates and cocktails. The modern design has the feel of a hip and exclusive lounge bar, creating a funkier alternative to the more intimate and stately upstairs bar. Dinner is also served in the Blue Lounge, where the music, innovative international cuisine and carefully chosen wine list which caters to a wide range of tastes.
The Maison Bleue Spa and Hammam, located on the grounds of the sister property Riad Maison Bleue, is dedicated to guests well-being. Using traditional methods, the spa and hammam creates a world of tranquillity and rejuvenation, designed to soothe and pamper. Begin with deep cleansing with the sauna treatment and exfoliating body scrub, followed by a massage using exotic aromatic oils and scents: rose water, amber, musk or orange blossom. These fragrances and traditional methods come together to create an atmosphere that fosters corporal relaxation and emotional harmony.
Take time to revive your body with a work out at the gym. The fitness room is well equipped with the latest technology; a wall of glass provides a fantastic view to lose yourself in while you work-out.
