Sir Richard Branson's Moroccan Retreat; bought in 1998 during one of his famous ballooning expeditions, Kasbah Tamadot is set at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains one hour's drive from Marrakech, Morocco. The enchanting Kasbah Tamadot hotel located in the High Atlas Mountains near Asni is a maze of serene courtyards, secret staircases and pristine gardens encased by an ancient wall. Mountain views are especially marvellous from the master suite, a scaled-down copy of the Kasbah itself.
Kasbah Tamadot is located in Asni, a small village and marketplace situated 1,320m above sea level at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, approximately one hour from Marrakech in Morocco, North Africa.
These rooms have a double bed, traditional Moroccan furnishings in gem-bright colours and antiques from the former owner's extensive collection.
These rooms have double beds, bathrobes and CD players, and are decorated with traditional Moroccan furnishings and antiques. TVs and DVD players are available on request.
The Superior Suites have a terrace or a balcony. Antiques plucked from all over the world decorate the colourful rooms. A baby cot or an extra bed can be added to some of these rooms on request.
The Deluxe Suites come with a balcony or terrace overlooking the Atlas Mountains. Decor is bright, colourful and Moroccan-inspired, with antiques from the former owner's collection decorating the rooms. An extra bed can be added to some rooms for extra.
This suite has a spacious terrace with a private pool, a big bedroom, separate lounge and hallway. Antiques and brightly coloured Moroccan furnishings decorate the rooms, and there are dramatic views of the Atlas Mountains.
The three-room Master Suite, set on a promontory near the infinity pool, is designed to be a mini Kasbah. The suite has a terrace and a private swimming pool. The building is rich in architectural detail and feels very private. The suite comprises a Deluxe Room and a Deluxe Suite on the ground floor with a private pool (these rooms can interconnect). On the upper floor, there's a compact Superior Room with an ensuite shower and a roof terrace. This suite is ideal for families.
These four tents are set on the hillside, overlooking the Atlas Mountains and the valley below. Each tent has a king-size bed, large bath tubs, a terrace, sun loungers and outdoor dining area. Moroccan furnishings and antiques decorate the tents.
With its intimate fireside bar and breathtaking terrace views, the stunning Kanoun restaurant serves delicious local and international cuisine. The name 'Kanoun' is the Berber word for the traditional Moroccan freestanding charcoal-burning brazier, made out of sun baked clay. The food combines local and international flavours, with home grown herbs and vegetables from the Kasbah Tamadot gardens. Dine al fresco around the candle lit reflecting pool, up on the rooftop terrace underneath the stars or somewhere private.
Lessons are hands-on interactive sessions where the chefs will walk you step-by-step through how to make some of the more popular dishes. Sessions take place in the afternoon and last approximately three hours. Each budding chef will have their own cooking station where you'll create a delicious 3-course meal including salads, soup, tagines and dessert.
