The Riad Kalaa is a Kasbah which dates back to the Almoravide dynasty was built in 1815, in the heart of the ramparts of the medina and only a few steps away from the ocean. The hotel has undergone a thorough and lengthy restoration, using artisan workmanship traditional to Morocco. The architecture of the riad is quite unique, with nooks and crannies, terraces, alcoves and salons, ensuring intimacy and a cozy, harmonious and restful ambiance for all the guests.
The Riad is unusually large (1000m2) with 11 rooms and suites, all en suite with central heating, Wifi and a safe-deposit box. Some of the rooms have an open fire. The architecture of the Riad is quite unique, with nooks and crannies, terraces, alcoves and salons, ensuring an intimate, harmonious and restful ambiance for all our guests.
The charming and comfortable Jasmine, Amber, Musk and Sandalwood rooms on the terrace by the pool, have been thoughtfully decorated down to the smallest detail. The cosy fireplace, colour tones and tadelakt with oriental motifs in the bathroom, have been put together with the most refined taste. The natural zellige tile flooring, the fragrance of the cedarwood furniture, the linen curtains and the embossed metal lampshades will transport you to another world. Berber, Nomad and Touareg are three large bedrooms on the ground floor. Some have spacious bathrooms in warm, sandy colours. The 6 metre high ceilings are in “gaïza” inlaid mature hardwood.

In the gastronomic restaurant you will relish the cuisine of our chef, a specialist in preparing authentic Moroccan tajines; if you so wish he will reveal his secrets while showing you how to prepare traditional dishes: Couscous Royale, tajine of artichokes and peas or fish prepared in the Moroccan way… At the end of your stay he will offer those who are interested and passionate about food, a real treasure: his collection of recipes, among which are some so ancient that they are prepared nowhere else in Morocco today.
