Overview
Of all the hotels in Tangiers, El Minzah is without a doubt the most sumptuous and elegant. El Minzah is one of the few 5-star establishments in the city. Built in 1930 at the command of John Crichton-Stuart, the 4th Marquis of Bute, a British aristocrat with extensive interests in the area.
The Andalusian patio is the heart of the hotel; entering through the magnificently carved sandstone portal and iron studded wooden doors of the El Minzah, you access the patio via a flight of marble steps. Its architecture, fountains and orange trees create an exquisite atmosphere for dining from morning into the evening. In addition to this, the pillars, crowned by Moorish-Corinthian capitals, support an arcade that has walls which are lavishly embellished with hand-cut blue and white Moroccan mosaics.
