Scheduled to open in August 2014, Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp is scenically located in a broad valley of the Hoanib River in the northern part of the private Palmwag Concession. Flanked to the east and west by rugged hills, the camp looks out over stunning, beautiful scenery and offers guests all the luxuries and amenities for an unforgettable stay. This camp features 7 twin-bedded tents and one family unit, each comprising of stylish en-suite bedrooms with shaded outdoor decks. The main areas include a dining room, inside and outside lounge areas, a bar, a library and a plunge pool. Enjoy a game drive showcasing the magnitude of landscape and the best possibilities of seeing zebras, giraffes, kudu, meerkats and more! Nature walks from the camp are a good opportunity to study the smaller creatures, as well as the fascinating plant life of the concession.
Exclusivity is taken a step further as the camp is only accessible by light aircraft. Part of the Namib Desert, this camp is home to rich diversity thanks to the early morning fog and the transient Hoanib River that provide water this incredibly harsh environment. Freshwater springs support healthy populations of Hartmann's mountain zebra, giraffe, gemsbok, springbok, kudu, comical meerkats (suricates), inquisitive ground squirrels, black-backed jackal and small spotted genet. Even elephant thrive and lion, leopard and cheetah occur. Palmwag has the largest free-roaming population of desert-adapted black rhino in Africa while the famous Cape fur seals in their thousands live on the Skeleton Coast shore.
Each of the 7 en-suite Standard Rooms will sleep up to two travelers and feature twin or double beds. Each room is conveniently equipped with a shaded outdoor lounge.
The Family Room features two bedrooms, accommodating a maximum of four guests. The Family Room is also equipped with a communal shaded outdoor lounge.
