Abbey Manor was built in 1905 in the Arts-and-Crafts style, and has been fully remodeled to ensure the highest level of comfort. Abbey Manor is located high on the slopes of Table Mountain, above the city. It affords a stunning combination of view, of the entire City Bowl, from Devils Peak to Signal Hill, and over the city and harbour. It is also an easy hop from the city centre and the V&A Waterfront.
Abbey Manor was built in 1905 for David Edward McConnell, a British businessman newly arrived in what was then the Cape Colony. David McConnell was a director of the Union Castle Shipping Line, then the primary means of transport between Europe and South Africa. The house was designed by the architect William Black, who was responsible for a wide range of famous buildings in Cape Town; he is more widely renowned for the arts-end-crafts movement in the Cape Province.
