River Lodge is one-of-a-kind. It has 10 spacious, air conditioned and tastefully appointed thatched suites that meander along the banks of the Bushman’s River. It offers guests luxurious peace and tranquility. Inside the Lodge guests can find a quiet spot in one of the lounges. Page through a book in the library, relax at the pool or take in the view from the magnificent deck which overhangs the river. Unique features include excellent river fishing and canoeing. Kariega is rich in birdlife and the early morning game drive and river cruise is the ideal way to experience the Game Reserve.
Kariega River Lodge is located in the Kariega Game Reserve, just 15min from Kenton-on-Sea in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Nestled on the banks of the Bushman’s River, this Lodge is unique in that it connects a Big-5 game reserve to the sea.
The ten luxury suites at Kariega River Lodge are set out along the banks of the Bushman’s River and offer you supreme comforts. These thatched suites are all tastefully decorated and include spacious bedrooms with king-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms featuring ornate baths and large showers. There is air conditioning, ceiling fans, a mini-bar, Internet connectivity, in-room safe as well as other expected amenities. You can choose to relax on your own private patio or head to the main lodge’s pool area or spacious deck.
The Kariega River Lodge is very open and spacious with a dining room attached to a lounge, library and bar. Dine on the deck which overlooks the river, or in the dining area. The restaurant serves tasty South African cuisine, and all breakfasts, lunches and dinners are inclusive.
The Bar and Lounge is very spacious and comfortable. Socialize with others or relax privately.
Take one the canoes for a leisurely paddle down either the Kariega or the Bushman’s rivers and watch in blissful silence as the river birds and animals go about their daily business.
Guests at Main Lodge are welcome to bring their own fishing equipment for fishing in the magnificent Kariega River. River Lodge is equipped with rods and is perfectly situated for the keen fisherman. Here, guests can fish from the Bushman’s River bank or from a canoe or boat.
Game drives are the center of the Kariega safari experience and guests will be thrilled by close-up encounters with lion, elephant and an abundance of other African wildlife. Kariega offers a variety of well marked hiking trails on the predator-free, eastern section of the reserve. This provides the guests with the opportunity of walking safely amongst more than 25 species of game and an abundance of birdlife.
