The beautifully restored Belvidere House, nestled amid ancient oaks, presides over 10 acres of manicured gardens with lovely views of the lagoon and surrounding forests. Belvidere Manor is situated on the shores of the lagoon at Knysna, on the renowned Garden Route of the Cape. Historic Belvidere Manor was acquired by Thomas Duthie from George Rex, the Squire of Knysna, in 1834. The restored Belvidere House is now the centre of gracious hospitality and charm, and celebrated its 150th anniversary in the year 2000.

Caroline's Bistro: Belvidere Manor's new-look restaurant.... serving a contemporary menu embracing the 'gastronomica' ethics of sustainable, locally sourced produce - slow-cooked or lightly tossed - the result will delight! The Bell Tavern: Knysna's smallest pub is housed on the site of the original Belvidere farmhouse, and indeed a feature of the pub is the wine cellar viewed through the window in the floor, where freshly caught game would have been hung. With a yellowwood ceiling and ironwood block floor, The Bell is a quaint favourite of the Belvidere locals. Relish pub meals served outside in the garden in summer, but in the winter enjoy the cosy warmth of the wood-burning stove. A wide selection of beers, wines & spirits are available.
Guests staying at Belvidere Manor are accommodated in rural Cape style cottages, each one beautifully appointed with views across lush gardens towards the lagoon. The cottages have a comfortable living room with an open fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and one, two or three bedrooms with bathrooms en suite, telephones and satellite television. Savor farmhouse breakfasts on the veranda, light lunches poolside and dine by candlelight, where the glow of polished yellowwood and Cape antiques creates a warm ambience.
