The Outpost is situated within the Makuleke Contractual Park, a vast and remote wilderness area bordered to the north by the Limpopo River and Zimbabwe and to the east by Crooks Corner and Mozambique. This exclusive property features 12 unique and modern stand-alone, open plan en-suite Luxury Suites, offering guests spectacular panoramic views of the river and bush below. Due to the properties dynamic location game drives and outstanding walking safaris are undertaken in what is arguably one of the most scenically beautiful and diverse wilderness areas in the Kruger National Park. The Outpost has been designed using simple, clean lines, combining elements of steel, concrete and finished hard-woods. The dramatically contemporary design of The Outpost emphasises its sytle and modernisim amongst the beautiful surroundings, and preserved wilderness for where it lays.
The Oupost was built within the Big 5 Makuleke Contractual Park, which measures some 26 500 hectares and is well known for its abundant wildlife including less common species not evident in the southern and central regions of the park. Apart from large herds of elephant and buffalo, guests will be able to see Nyala, an antelope which is not easily found in the more southern regions of the park, and over 350 recorded bird species. The diverse terrain of the region includes Mopane Woodlands, Fever Tree forests, Acacia thickets as well as some of the largest and oldest Baobab specimens.
The Outpost accommodates 24 guests in 12 stand-alone open plan en-suite Luxury Suites resting on a hill overlooking the Luvuvhu River. The Suites are connected to each other and the central Lodge area by a 500m Zimbabwean teak walkway. These contemporary Luxury Suites have been cleverly designed, making full use of space, concrete and steel with state-of the art retractable screens offering 180-degrees of uninterrupted views of the Luvuvhu River Valley. The open feel of the room extends into a comfortable lounge and an award-winning bathroom (which can be screened off for privacy) with a stone bath and open shower boasting views extending as far as Mozambique. The outdoor terrace with daybed offers full views of the surrounding bushveld, and is the perfect spot to while away the time soaking in this natural wonder.
The Honeymoon Suite, rests high above the camp offering uninterrupted 270° views as far as the eye can see. The intoxicating beauty and freedom of the vast wilderness flows into the Suite where you feel at one with nature even whilst sleeping in your comfy king-size bed.
The Outpost offers a variety of places to dine. Breakfast and lunch is served under cover in the dining area in the main building with views of the Luvuvhu River Valley. Lunch may be served as a picnic out on safari, under Baobabs or on the river banks. Dinner is enjoyed either in the enclosed courtyard under the stars or on the deck next to the pool. Despite its remote location, The Outpost strives to provide excellent cuisine. The style of food draws from its African surroundings and care is taken to source the best produce. The large wine cellar, filled with outstanding South African wines, including some amazing Sauvignon Blanc produced by the Lodge owner, is separated from the main dining area by a glass partition.

The trained masseuses will ease your tensions during your time with us with their unique style comprising of basic Swedish massage combined with influences from India. Choose from a select range of massages and experience a blissful, stress-free break in the most tranquil of surroundings.
Guests will be taken on game drives in the early morning and again in the late afternoon which may extend into the early evening. Game drives are conducted by qualified and experienced guides in open 4x4 safari vehicles. The drives are not restricted to public roads in Kruger National Park and mostly make use of tracks formerly reserved for the use of Park officials.
Guests who would like to experience the bush on foot may do so after breakfast as an alternative to a game drive. These walks are exhilarating and informative... the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with the wonders of nature, and a great way to stretch your legs and breath the fresh bush air.
