Probably one of the fist things that guests notice about Hunter's is the sense of "home". It starts at the beginning of the driveway with enticing views into secret gardens abundant with butterflies and fragranced air. Then the Team and the House herself just seem embody a feeling of family and belonging, of coming home. The individual thatched cottage suites are plush and calming, decorated in palest green and oyster pallette accented with romantic sparkle of crystal trimmed canopies and dainty chandelliers. A privately orientated patio and garden makes for tranquil relaxation, reflection and re connecting.
At 60 square metres, each of the 5 Superior Garden Suites are roomier with a full sofa and extra armchair at the fireside. The extra dresser and wardrobe space are ideal for longer stays. Throughout, the fabrics are rich and luxurious and the bathrooms have the added facility of a bidet. The larger patios feature sun loungers and a parasol. Each Superior Garden Suite, as with all the others at The Country House; boasts a fireplace, air conditioner, mini bar, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer and en-suite bathroom with separate bath and shower and of course a garden patio with table, chairs and loungers.
Offering 85 square metres, the 2 De Luxe Pool Suites have a separate lounge and dining area with large flat screen TV and French doors opening on to the stone patio and sundeck of the private pool and garden. The large and sumptuous bedrooms lead on to a separate dressing room area and a large bathroom with twin basins, heated towel rail and an outdoor shower. As with all of the suites at The Country House, the De Luxe Pool Suites also have a fireplace, air conditioner, mini bar, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer and en-suite bathroom with separate bath and shower and of course a garden patio with table and chairs for quiet outdoor dining and of course loungers at the pool side.
Since 1989, a Dining experience at Hunter’s Country House has become one of the mythical must do’s of the Garden Route. In a time when “Less has become less and less”, and minimalism is at it’s zenith, there is something so welcoming about a Grand Old Homestead filled with decadent fabrics and the sparkle of crystal chandeliers. Arriving in time to enjoy the crepuscular light of the rolling gardens is imperative! The award winning fare on offer from Executive Chef, Carmen Truter and her all girl Team is sensitively and intelligently put together. With the luxury of a menu that changes weekly, Carmen is able to make use of ingredients that are available and seasonally ripe for short periods during the year. Flavour combining is Carmen’s hallmark and she and her Team have their fingers firmly on the pulse of International trends, whilst remaining true to their deep South African roots.
