A luxury five star safari lodge, Londolozi Pioneer Camp is located in the central region of the Sabi Sand Private Reserve sharing unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park. The most secluded of the Londolozi Camps, Pioneer Camp is surrounded by superb river and bushveld views. The central guest areas are donned with a thatch roof, wooden deck and rock walls. There is an open-plan kitchen that leads to the indoor and deck dining areas; comfortable living areas, a boma and lap pool.
Decorated with a Ralph Lauren feel, the spacious suites offer clean, modern and sophisticated lines with floor to ceiling glass-sliding panels which frame the wilderness views beyond. The full bathrooms are classic Victorian with modern accents in marble, chrome and mahogany and include outdoor showers. The suites boast king size extra length beds, air-conditioning, fans, mosquito nets, hairdryer, minibar and outdoor private plunge pools. Throughout the camp there is a pervading sense of history thanks to the faithfully restored memorabilia of photographs, old suitcases, silver, crystal glass and gramophones.
At Londolozi, superb cuisine is considered an essential part of the experience and a vital component of their holistic philosophy. Every ingredient is chosen with care, favoring organic produce, free-range game and herbs from their kitchen garden to create dishes that are irresistibly delicious and promote health. As their intention is always to honour the earth, while cooking they ensure that seafood dishes are guided by the Southern African Sustainable Seafood Initiative and that the number of imported ingredients are kept to a minimum. Recipes are a source of great pride as many have been handed down through generations or were created in the Londolozi kitchens, which are the domain of world-class chefs. Londolozi meals are a feast for the senses, whether in the camp dining room, around the boma campfire or in the bushveld under a starlit sky.
There are a variety of activities available to guests of Londolozi Pioneer Camp. Suitable for the beautiful balmy bushveld days in May, June and July, there is nothing like walking in a winter wilderness during a bush walk. The ancient art of tracking has been uniquely preserved at Londolozi, where the combined wisdom of the tracking team spans over 200 years of tracking experience. This is the perfect place to pursue Africa’s most alluring wildlife, whilst in the presence of a master tracker applying an ancient art, miles from any Land Rover. The massage room was designed by a holistic therapist to create a space in harmony with the elements, ensuring a meditative experience that quietens the mind, rejuvenates energy and creates inner balance. Therapies include Swedish and Thai massage, Aromatherapy and Reiki healing. All therapies are available in either our massage room, in the privacy of your suite or out in the wilderness. Other activities include bush breakfasts and adventure picnics, sleep outs, astronomy lectures, birding, yoga, and campfires accompanied by storytelling and red wine.
